Great time on the Santa train. All the kids were excited to ride the train with Santa. Santa talked with each child individually as he made his way thru the train car. And each child had a chance to tell Samta what they wanted for Christmas

Ride at your own risk. We had to stand on a small step stool and pull ourselves up into the train. On the return trip it was dark and we had to lower ourselves about 3 feet down, backwards, from the train to the same small foot stool which we could barley see. I hurt my leg in the process, had to go to an emergency room the next day because I couldn't stand and have been recouping for about 2 1/2 months with a walker. Also, it was at Halloween time and they had workers board the train in scary outfits and turned the lights off. We had several little grandkids with us that were terribly scared. This was never mentioned in the program. Why they couldn't board people from the station platform I'll never understand. The whole experience was one I wish I hadn't had.

The Santa Train was very, very expensive and overall it was ok but not worth doing more than once. The train was very poorly decorated and the 'free toy' to each child was the equivalent of a Happy Meal toy.Santa himself was good and took time with each child but overall this is definitely not worth the price.Very little effort put into this event by the staff. If you're really desperate for a Christmas activity then this can work but otherwise do not recommend.

We enjoyed the train ride and the history. Touring inside the cars was enjoyable for adults and our grandsons. They loved the small trains that they made go by peddling with their arms. What was also a treasure was the staff were all volunteers! There were seniors and teens. Even the mechanics were volunteers. All very knowledgeable. Thanks for such a nice time.

Rode the diesel engine. Turned out to be perfect weather! HVRM is very cool and the kids loved it. Parking is easy and close. The gift shop is full of fun, cool stuff. They have other options for rides aside from the diesel engine. The ride is better than most of the other small railroads we've visited with the kids. You get some great views of historic homes, mint fields, and a neat river view. Seems like they have frequent events and offer rides throughout the season. They have some very cool cabooses! They were also talking about upcoming pumpkin rides in the fall...they sound fun!

It was ok really not much inside exhibits and not much outside. Other than the train ride witch not to exciting you could look at this place in about a 1hr and that reading everything on the wall.

Had a great time, staff and trip were wonderful. Should have gone earlier to go through the museum, ran out of time after taking the last train of the day. Great all around experience.

Had a wonderful experience, the staff was friendly and helpful. The people we met on the train were friendly. Saw wildlife and gave you imagery that helped you go back in time. Just a great all around experience.

Very welcoming and engaging volunteers who appreciate your patronage. The one hour train ride is narrated with information about the train and the area. Well presented and informational displays in the depot and adjacent rail cars. Very safe ride (found out they are all fully trained to federal standards). Perfect ride for families with children.

As this is rated as one of the top 10 railroad museums in the country, it lived up to its name! Would highly recommend to anyone interested in the history of America’s railroads, as my boyfriend is. Lots of photo ops. Took the diesel train ride. Very relaxing, and the staff was very friendly and informative.

This is a lovely small museum located in a rural town. Besides the main building, there are two old trains to look around as well. Free entery to the museum but needs to buy a ticket for a train ride. We thought the visit would take us an hour, but, instead, it took only 30 min. The train ride was a big fun. 45 min for a round trip. It didn't go anywhere, just turn around in the middle of the way. Nice to spare some time with kids.
