“I love that every time I go, they have different things to look at. The store is always clean, the items are always nice, emplyees are always friendly and helpful.”
“Very clean and a ton of options to choose from for maternity and baby clothes. They also have all sorts of supplies for new mothers. The staff were so nice and helpful. Will definitely be returning!”
“Super friendly employees and so many practical items to choose from. All of the proceeds go to Veterans. Well worth the stop. You're almost guaranteed not to leave empty handed”
“Super clean and organized little Thrift store run by very sweet older volunteers. Clothes were organized not just by size but each rack was a type, like shorts or pants or tank tops or bathing suits, etc. Tops were $4 each for the most part and bottoms were pretty much all $5. Knick knacks and everything else were even cheaper”
“March 14th most of the fam stopped in while in town for the YMCA Regionals Swimming and glad we did?lots of nice staff, very helpful and friendly?prices pretty budget friendly”

“Stuff, Etc is such a unique consignment store in the way they sell such great furniture, household items and clothing. Having now moved out of state, it's not common to see such a business!! While living in IA, I sold and shopped from here for many years and can positively say this is a wonderful business. Specifically, the manager Shelby at the Ankeny is absolutely phenomenal!!”

“I've had pretty good hauls from here. Selection is pretty large, and the store is well organized; not too cluttered but doesn't feel empty either. Also fantastic drop off system. One of the easiest places to donate in the Des Moines metro.”
“ARC was a humbling experience. Did it Florida in 2004. It changed the trajectory of my life. I'm a much better person today. I thank God For the Salvation Army.”
“Was in there looking for picture frames right before close on October 6. EXTREMELY friendly service, every associate I spoke to was helpful and made sure that I found what I was looking for! ???”

To the Staff: Thanks for being way awesome enough to work there. People come & people go, remember that you make the difference. Even if some people can't or won't see all that you do, smile & let it go.

“I hope someone there is listening because this is a big problem with your clothing. You guys use a punch gun with much thicker plastic threading than most thrift stores. That’s not a problem if you are punching it through the tag or somewhere that isn’t going to be noticeable. I can’t tell you how many items that are left with a very obvious hole because people just punch it wherever they feel like. Through the collar, back of the shirt, it’s terrible. There’s no reason if there is a hang tag you cannot punch it through there so you’re not puncturing the actual fabric and leaving a hole. I almost wish you guys would go back to stapling the tags on. At least when you removed the staple, it did not leave a noticeable hole. I’ve enclosed two photos. The first is the wrong way. Using a punch gun right through a leather collar leaving a very noticeable hole. The second photo is the way you guys need to be doing this all the time. Through the hanging tag only. On the positive – you guys have really cleaned up your stores over the past five years. Prices are quite a bit higher than most other thrift stores, but if you have the patience, you can still still find great stuff for a decent price.”

“Stopped in the store was clean and well kept. The clothes were mostly in the correct spots, so it did make finding things easier. There were 2 cashiers I found Bob (he had a hat with his name on it), not so friendly, which I found disappointing as the lady was extremely nice. I'd give an 8/10 I'd recommend.”
“It's like digging your way to a treasure or several treasures. Weight by the pound is such a convenience. And then the few items that they do have a set price on it's genius. Even if you go in there thinking you can find one thing and you don't find it, I promise you that you will find something that you like and love.”
“I went to Hope Thrift this afternoon and had a lovely experience. Unfortunately, an extremely rude woman was berating one of the employees about the prices and yelling at him about something he couldn’t control. He was extremely professional in the way he handled it and was much more gracious than he should have been. I was really grateful to support a place with a great mission, great employees, and great inventory. I hope that all customers can embrace that attitude of gratitude when shopping here.”
“I love this store! Caring Hands’ Secondhand Treasures has tons of great finds, and the folks who run it are super sweet. If you need housewares, kitchen items, or even furniture, check here before buying new! Most, if not all items are in significantly better condition than you’d find at any other thrift store in the metro, and most of their prices are reasonable. They have great sales from time to time, and similar to other thrifts, they have a rotating sale where certain tags are marked down based on the color of the tag. The only critiques I have are that some of their items are mislabeled as vintage when they’re not actually vintage or are marked as an authentic collectible when they’re actually a reproduction. Prices on some items are disproportionately high, but it isn’t consistent. The oddly high pricing makes me wonder if they have multiple people pricing their items and some are going a good bit higher than they ought to while the others are more on point with actual values of the items.Bottom line: If you’re in Altoona, stop by and pay these folks a visit! You never know what you’ll find, AND any money you spend goes directly back to providing the community with resources like their onsite food pantry and clothing closet!”
