All accommodations were as expected from a Best Western facility. Rooms were well maintained, the breakfast was excellent and the gym and pool area were operable. Parking was proportional to the amount of guest rooms.

I was bitten by bed bugs while I was stayed here. It was awful, absolutely miserable. I had bites all over and it hurt for weeks. I’m paranoid to stay at hotels. I ended up tossing out luggage. The staff was nice enough put me in a different room, but no refund and no admission to the bed bugs. I will never stay here again.I called Sondra, she sounded surprised and made it sound like there haven’t been other complaints. A quick Google search and it’s easy to see there were several complaints in the months before and after my trip. It sounds like it had been an ongoing issue.

Good hotel by the highway and not too far from the University. My room was super clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served, we had potatoes and bacon. If you stay in this town don’t be worried by this hotel.

This property is disgustingly old and outdated. The carpets were filthy and the air conditioning smelled musty. The AC was turned down so low that everything in the room felt damp. The lamp shades were stained and the rolling blackout window shades were cracked and threadbare. The hallways were worse. Perhaps it is because we were in the pet friendly wing but nothing appeared to have been updated for years. The only thing giving it 2 stars is the fact that the bathroom and the linens were clean. My room looked nothing like the rooms shown in any of the pictures.

We got bed bugs from Best Western Ames from a lower level room on the night of August 8th, 2023.My wife & I rarely stay away from home & we have never had bed bugs in our home. We stayed at the Best Western in Ames on the night of August 8th, & went back home the following day. The days following, my wife tells me she has bites consistent with bed bugs. A couple of days later, I also have bites consistent with bed bugs. I immediately call the hotel to talk to a manager to inform them of the situation - the manager was busy so I left a message along with my name & phone number - I never received a call back.My wife & I are now battling to rid our home of these nasty things & we are 100% positive that we got them from Best Western Ames.I will say that the staff that I have talked to before, during, & after our stay have been polite & helpful. One thing that I thought was interesting when we were checking in:I was given the usual sheet to sign & initial. One of the statements that I was asked to initial stated that I would pay $50 for each pet & to list how many pets. I said that we do not have any pets, so I am not going to initial it. I was told that I should initial it anyway & that a note would be made in the system. I did not initial it & I am sure that it was noted in the system. Also, we were put into a room that smelled fairly strong like cigarette smoke. Since I just initialed an agreement stating that I would pay $150 if we smoke in the room, I better make sure that the staff knows that they put us in a room that already smells like cigarette smoke. I was told that this room smells like cigarettes because it is right next to an exit (but he will make a note in the system) - so basically, people smoke outside this room & the smoke comes in through the heating/cooling unit on the wall.I think the room number was in the 140's (West side of the North wing of the building - room to the South of the West exit). The room did seem clean & it was comfortable. My wife & I have stayed here before without any issues. This was our experience. One more thing that needs work. At the counter, our room would have been about $125 before taxes & fees. Online, it was $95 before taxes & fees. Three days earlier, the price was $84 online. The hotel industry is real shady.

I stayed here for a recent business trip and it was really nice. The lady at the front desk helped us with all of our questions and it was clean and conveniently located. Also I find a lot of hotel beds too soft but these beds were nice and firm

I have stayed at this location many times over the past several years. I love the "back porch" for outside sitting and visiting. While I stay here when I visit the Huxley/Cambridge area, it is easy enough to get to DesMoines. There is a gas station/convenience store next door.

Excellent service. Friendly and helpful staff. Went with a large wedding party while there was also baseball families for a tournament. Plenty of space to hangout and mingle. Between the wedding party and guests and the baseball parents the nights were long and full of laughter and cocktails. The staff was accommodating and courteous. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good as well! Not a single complaint!Noteworthy details: Staff was friendly and helpful and top of everything!

The free breakfast offered leaves much to be desired- hard breakfast cake, oatmeal looks like paste, apples & oranges are your healthy options. The lady on day staff is not friendly. Something was floating in the pool. The beds are not firm- rather squishy, pillows are super flat.On the plus side the rooms are clean & its location is great for an Iowa State visit- a few short minutes down the road.
