I specifically informed lady in Cedar Rapids that I DID NOT want to pre-pay for fuel for my Nissan Rouge; I assumed she made that clear in my contract. She DID NOT. I didn't notice, until I received my invoice; which had a $40 fuel charge. On my way to return my vehicle, I filled up the tank at a gas station. I spoke with AVIS customer service; she refused to grant me a credit for $40. Not cool or fair.

Arrived at Cedar Rapids Airport - mid 30 degrees out. Went out to rental car (far end of lot) and it would not start. Had to walk back in very cold temps to Avis counter. They gave me another vehicle, which was parked even farther. I asked for valet drop-off. They obliged and brought to building, but no one ever came and told me or showed me where/what vehicle it was. I had to go back to counter to ask if they brought it up yet. Employee then came and showed me where car was - still running. Wasted an extra hr trying to get rental vehicle. No apologies for inconvenience, agent at counter wouldn't even look at me. Charged me for refueling of car, when I showed it was full. Had to remove the charge from bill. Not impressed with Avis.

Midnight arrival late..due to fog. Agent was very pleasant, efficient, provided each customer all the info on their car, speed traps, took care of all questions. She was awesome!!

Worst car rental agency on the planet. I don't know what's worse the deceptive wording on websites or the practice of taking your money with no intention of letting you rent a car. I understand that the car rental business is a risky one, but I don't understand how you get anything done. Your employees seem to already have an apology made up in their mind before you talk to them because sorry is the first and last word that comes out of their mouth if I worked for a company that I had to apologize for I would quit. So I can find myself reputable employer and make a lucrative living not apologizing for somebody else's bad business practices. Which makes me also understand why people rip you off.

Had a very positive experience, check in was quick and the staff was friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable and the vehicle was clean and ready to go. Thanks Avis!

Don’t op for the lie that if Avis fills up the car on return the price per gallon would be 5 cents per gallon less than the prevailing gas station rate. We fell for this scam and it cost us over $ 4.00 per gallon more than the local rate or $32 (8 gallons times $4.00).Avis price per gallon was $7.39 versus $3.39 local rate just next to the Cedar Rapids, Iowa airport.

I booked a car rental with Avis at Cedar Rapids for 9/1/23 through Expedia and then cancelled that day with Avis due to missed flight connections. Avis took the cancellation but did not notify me that I must cancel with Expedia because they have a policy not to contact Expedia about such cancellations. Avis did send me a cancellation notice but never contacted Expedia to let them know. After many calls to both Avis and Expedia customer service, I was told the two companies would not contact each other about cancellations. I'm upset that such "policies" get in the way of simply picking up the phone and making the correction. What happened to going to bat for the customer?

Avis was first class handling an issue with having to replace a car 95 miles away, within 2 hours.....they went out of their way to help me.....I am very pleased with Avis and will certainly recommend and use them in the future!

Pickup and dropoff were very easy and the staff were helpful. My upgrade via President’s Club was automatic and the vehicle I was given was in great shape.

Despite the minor inconvenience during the drop-off process, my overall rental car experience in Cedar Rapids was positive. The freedom to explore the city at my own pace and convenience was invaluable. However, the experience also taught me the importance of clear and concise signage, especially for visitors unfamiliar with the area. As I departed CID, I carried not only memories of my trip but also a newfound understanding of the significance of proper navigation assistance for travelers.

Vehicle was ready for pickup on our arrival.Kind service .We were giving a Nissan versa .I noticed immediately that the car has a thumping sound and roars at even low speeds while travelling .berry annoying .Hopefully get the problem resolved today . The car interior also had a terrible odor ,kind of like a couple baskets of dirty laundry in the back seat .not very pleasant. For the cost .they should do better .Update: finally got the vehicle into a tire shop for inspection .it was obvious the car wasn't professionally inspected .the left rear tire was knotty,belts are broken and tread is below spec .reason for tire hop .The right rear worn completely below spec with inside wear and was heating up due to both rear tires being rotated incorrectly.That caused the car pulled to the left .The tech said the vehicle was very unsafe for for travel .

Customer service was very rude and hung up on me for asking about Tolls.......I was charged a surcharge for fuel which did not make the fuel cheaper then if I would have filled it , like the rep at the counter said! Misleading and poor customer service !
