An amazing clinic! Trustworthy, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable doctors and staff. The doctors always explain the diagnosis and recommendations well and ensure we understand the options. Our dog is excited to go every time!

I recently took my German Shepherd to Waukee-Clive Veterinary Clinic due to a limping issue, and I couldn't be more pleased with the care we received. Both Dr. Hufferd and Dr. Olesen did an outstanding job diagnosing and treating the problem, and my dog is now feeling much better. The staff at the clinic is extremely friendly and helpful, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend this clinic for their professionalism, expertise, and excellent customer service. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of my dog!

Doctor gave me a prescription for 100 prednisone, knowing very well that my dog would run out before his treatment was over. That was $55.
When he was about to run out I ordered 200 of them through a 3rd party called Covetrus that works with this vet clinic. It was $40.
Waukee Clive took forever to fulfill and mail them so I needed some loaner pills to get my dog by. I called them and asked for 7 days worth (21 pills)
It cost me $36. The math isn’t MATHING.
All in all - the pricing at this place is absolutely atrocious. My pet insurance won’t even cover their exam fees.
Have fun getting unexpectedly charged $400 on your way out the door.

I had the best experience at Waukee- Clive Vet Clinic with my dogs and my cat! The staff members are kind, knowledgeable and efficient! It is clear they care about animals and love their work.

SCAMMERS. They don’t go over charges before you pay. They just expected me to hand my card over and I thought ok shouldn’t be much and when I got to the car holy cow. I have no idea how they have a 4.9 rating. cutting her nails for over $33??!! An actual crime. I should have asked but the most I paid for that before was $7. And her nails are still long enough for her to be able to scratch me. I cut them better and should’ve never made the mistake of going to these people. Please ignore the reviews unless you’re really wealthy and don’t care to throw your money away. All they really know how to do is be nice. After seeing a review about how they neglected a dog who was sick for years, I know now they aren’t educated. They just juice you for every penny you got. Instead of referring to another clinic who CAN help. They made the family believe he’s fine and I’m sure it’s so they can keep charging them to come in and hear the same things and not doing anything useful. Recently moved here and this has to be the worst clinic ever visited. Ridiculous prices and to be charged on what I already suspected is outrageous. I called prior asking if my cat is experiencing the reproductive phase of her cycle basically if she’s in heat and they said they don’t know or no that’s not the symptoms “bring her in”. I did just that and showed the doctor a video of cat and right away she said she’s in heat. That’s it and this was immediately when she entered the room. So nothing more needed to be done but still her and her staff decided to do whatever it is they did because charging a patient for just confirming information and wasting my time and money isn’t how “professionals” should act. I repeatedly said so I just came for nothing or I wasted time and I wasn’t told oh yes she’s fine you can go. No no, she just continues to talk and tell me to spay her which I will be doing in my hometown now. Checking her temp for a fever shouldn’t cost this much.

This place has absolutely amazing staff. And their care for animals is absolutely amazing. My puppy was in and out. No pain whatsoever got shots and a wellness check Up and they are really good at distracting. The dogs our puppy didn't even realize it got a shot. They're also very good at explaining things in detail on what to do and what to help with in an extremely nice manner. I would also say their pricing. Is extremely good? Most places? We're gonna charge me more than $200. This place charged me around a $140 for everything. For that price they had extremely good services a well kept place and they disinfect every room after every animal to prevent spread of diseases from other dogs. Overall, I'd have to say this was the best experience I've ever had with a vet.

My husky had dental surgery here to remove some teeth. Glad they were able to work with me regarding my husky's separation anxiety, and they took extremely good care of him! Recovery went well, and now he is doing much better since his cracked tooth had been removed. I'd definitely recommend bringing your dog here.

Go elsewhere!! Outrageous prices and very little help. This place is looking to make a buck - not help animals.
Our 7 year old Lab has suffered from skin allergies since he was a pup. We switched to Waukee-Clive Vet Clinic a year ago, after moving to Waukee. In the year since our switch, we have spent thousands of dollars on what used to be a managed skin issue… Each time we walk in, in hopes of receiving a simple antibiotic and perhaps a topical treatment, the vet staff turns into a professional sales team and attempt to upcharge everything. We have to fight to receive the antibiotics that we KNOW help our dog because the staff is too busy trying to push additional, unneeded services instead of attend to the problem at hand. Our most recent visit cost over $500 for them to shave beneath our dog’s armpit, apply a drying powder, and prescribe his regular medication. For reference, Stark Pet Hospital in Des Moines who we are returning to, charges us $200 for similar services!!
A couple invoices attached for reference. This is 2/4 of our visits since April.

The staff and doctors are compassionate and knowledgeable. I have had great experiences at the Clinic and highly recommend this practice. Everyone has been wonderful to both pets and their humans alike.

Have always gotten top notch care and services at Waukee Clive. Treat my pets with the care and respect I want to see. Always willing to answer any of my questions and give me their honest opinion about my options. Couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

I am sad to have to write this review, but things have changed drastically since Dr. Bunn left. While my concern is not with the doctors or technicians, it is more with the practices and policies. I was told that they are turning more towards corporate policies and I hate to see the small town feel go away.
