“Run by grit and passion. This women led power house is putting beds under kids and empowering families coming out of crisis every day. I've watched the work right through exhaustion to bring the comforts of home to people who don't have a light in their home, a pot to cook in or a single chair in their home. They save innumerous tons from the landfill and contribute to bettering our community in every way possible. Thank you, HIH!”

“Handicare is a caring, safe, and fun place for kids, especially those with special needs. My elder daughter uses a power wheelchair. We sent her to Handicare for summer when she was 4. Handicare took very good care of her and she was very happy with the teachers and kids there. A few years later we sent our little one to Handicare again, who has been with Handicare for 3 years now. She went from the 1 year old class to 2 and then to 3, and will continue! We can feel every morning she is happy to go! The kids at Handicare are friendly and with good manners. The teachers and staff are very caring, responsible, and kind. I will recommend Handicare to everyone looking for a daycare.”

“Went to donate some stuff and they couldn't take some things which is understandable when they are overstocked and understaffed. Still an overall pleasant experience”

“The Iowa City Downtown District offers a variety of shops, businesses, restaurants, and outdoor attractions. Because an effort has been made to expand residential housing options in the downtown area, it has become a vibrant community. Some cities have a 'business park' feel to their downtown areas and become empty, like a closed amusement park in evenings and weekends. With cities like Iowa City, the living and working space is combined so activities continue outside the normal work-week hours. This makes it a nicer place for those who work and/or live there.”

“I've been there perhaps maybe more times than I should have, but I will tell you- when I needed help and support from Prelude, that's absolutely what I got. I've had alcohol/coke problems for quite some time, and Prelude (or CFR now) has always come through. I have been in residential treatment there more than once, and I ALWAYS felt like I mattered. I wasn't just a number- I was a person who needed help and that is exactly what I received. I wish I could drop some names here for all the staff (of which whom are ridiculously underpaid...) but due to privacy issues I don't think I should ? but THANK YOU SO MUCH for what you all have done for me, and frankly, for even just putting up with me!?”
