This is straight shoot as possible. Management is rude with unnecessary attitudes. They send group text messages all the time to the tenants about what they require from you but as soon as you request something done it’s a hassle. Also it’s bad insulation in the rooms. During the winter time your apartment gets so cold that your forced to keep your heat on nonstop. Then vice versa in the summer parts of the apartment gets way hotter than the other. Homeless people/recovering addict tenants hang in front of the building 24/7 smoking cigarettes disregarding the “no smoking in front of building” sign, totally destroying the morale and allure of the complex. Even bad smells all throughout the building along with filthy flooring. They elect to only mop like once every 3 months or so. Stinky elevators, sometimes urine aroma. Other than that its a great place to live ?.

Apartments are over-priced. No amenities. There was a theater room for residents to rent, they stopped that. The only amenity now is the convenience store and they’re working on kicking them out to help them gentrify the area.Management will try to penny pinch every chance they get. Management has cameras all over the buildings but does not use them to help residents only to play big brother. No seriously they sit and watch the cameras on their phones all day. There’s been multiple times I had my items stolen from the lobby and they refused to play the cameras back to show me who took them or even times where my car was hit right in front a camera and they refused to show me the video. There’s a big homeless problem at building. Lots of fights by the building. Maintenance has walked into peoples apartments without permission. Owners are very discriminated and probably racist in my opinion. They called the cops on residents for standing in front of the building they pay rent at.Just recently the building has had someone break into the building and threaten to shoot a resident. They couldn’t tell how the person got into the building and they also evicted the resident who was threatened at his home. There’s been many cases of packages being stolen and also items in people’s home.I’ve lived there for three years and the building has immediately gone downhill since the new owners took over. I don’t understand why anyone would sign a lease here.

I can't say enough great things about living at the Fleming Building these past 2.5 years!Besides just the charm of the actual apartment aesthetically, the management here is AMAZING. The property manager, Dan, is kind, responsive and always helpful. And maintenance was always crazy fast and went above and beyond every time. It doesn't seem like a huge thing, but the staff here truly made the experience as great as it was because they genuinely care about the people who live there.Great place--highly recommend!

How hard is it to answer a simple question which was this do you know if you will have any one bedrooms available in April? Did they answer my question? No they sent me an email about being placed on some list which I never asked them to do and then they tell me that if I am pre-approved when one becomes available I could get it sight unseen. I mean seriously who in their right mind is going to fork over $25 for an application fee, $200 for an administration fee, and then on top of that the deposit without seeing what the inside of the apartment looks like? I am guessing they thought I fell off the turnip truck last night. I will definitely look elsewhere because obviously they think I am stupid.

I have lived here for about 8 months now and enjoy the location, history of building, and prompt responses from maintenance. One thing to note is since the building is historic, it has bad insulation and there is a lot of heat loss in winter.

Nice building. ]ricy at$900 a month for a one. Bedroom and $1400 for a two bedroom. If you can stand the other person its a bargain. Draw back is the homeless congregate around the Pantry

Our airb&b was in this building. Neat and unique place to stay in the heart of downtown Des Moines.
