Worst place to take an animal my dad took his puppy there said that he had parvo and with parvo a puppy don’t get better inless that 5 hours. They charged so much they didn’t even do the blood work to do the test and they said hey his white cell count was bad how can they say a white cell count is bad if they didn’t even do Bloodwork, they wanted to keep him for two days and charge us $7000 to treat him for Pavo And he didn’t even have it, so I recommend to anybody not to take your dogs, cats any of your animals to this vet. They are scammers

My family and I had to take a cat here for an emergency. We live an hour and a half away from here but they were the only people who accepted us. We had to put the cat down but the staff were very amazing. They gave us her paw prints, they gave us a hand carved box for her ashes and they even sent a letter to us with all the staff's names saying sorry for your lost. I deeply recommend going here.

Had to come here after hours for my 9 year old fur baby’s rash and infection and not only were the emergency fees extremely reasonable but the staff was very friendly to both my dog and me. I appreciated the follow up call from them a couple days later checking on her. Hopefully won’t have any more emergencies, but if I do, I’ll certainly be back.

We had a great experience! Everyone was so nice and took great care of our dog. We were in and out very quickly and they even called to check in the day after to see how he was doing. They were amazing! Hopefully we don’t have to go back but glad to know where to go if anything happens again.

We had a good experience with the veterinarian, felt our dog was well cared for. The communication/explanations during our visit were clear and the staff was professional and empathetic throughout. They are very upfront about medical costs and make sure you know what you’re signing up for before each procedure. This may upset some people, but I think it’s a professional practice so clients are not shocked at the end of their visit.

Staff: very helpful, and compassionate. Our 3yo ferret was very sick. He declined really fast and at 930 pm we decided to take him to a exotic pet specialist. This was the only place open. My wife called and the Dr. Said they would wait for us to drive from the QC area. After realizing his cancer was too substantial, our special rocket crossed the rainbow bridge that night with their help. We got him cremated and the paws and box, along with the certificate tore at our heart strings. Losing him was hard, they made it a little easier.Building: is being worked on but is spacious and a nic facility. If this review helped you, please hit the thumbs up button.

It's taken me a month to be able to write this review, but they deserve it...Iowa Veterinary Specialties staff were so great to us when we brought our sweet girl in that ultimately resulted in us having to let her go. Dr. Blake was thorough and kind in explaining the entire thing, and never made us feel rushed to make a decision. I wish I could remember the lady's name at the front desk, but she was so beyond kind and patient with us during the most difficult night of our lives and that is something I will never forget. All the vet techs were so kind as well and treated my girl with respect. They had a special "comfort room" for us to say our final goodbyes and that helped us so much not being in a bright, cold veterinary room. They were transparent about pricing, even though price didn't matter in that moment. We did cremate her through Loving Rest in Indianola and they took care of all of that for us which I greatly appreciated, and contacted me right away when her cremains were back to their office.I hope to never need to have to come back here, but if I do, we will without hesitation. Thank you again for being so kind and understanding with fragile, broken people when they need it most.

My dog Piper had to have the TPLO surgery at this location and despite the circumstances, i was very pleased with the service they provided. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain thoroughly and answers all my questions. They worked so well with my dog and understood that this was a big deal the me as she is like my child, they made me feel extremely validated with all my questions and concerns. I would absolutely recommend to anyone in the future.

If I could give negative stars I would! Took our dog there with a prolapsed urethra which was diagnosed from my regular vet that couldn't help me with that problem. We told them exactly what was wrong with him. They took him in the back for over an hour while I sat in a hot exam room that no one came in to update me at all. Then when they did come back in they told me that he had a bunch of other things wrong with him that I never told them they could run any test. Then proceeded to tell me they couldn't fix his problem but he needed to stay for 48 hours for observation which would cost me 2500. The whole time our dog wasn't in pain just bleeding. Needless ro say they gave me pain pills and charged me 500. Please stay away from this vet. They have no bedside ma ner, don't listen to a word I said about my dog either.nevet never again!!

My girlfriend and I were recommended this place by our vet and with this being our first time experiencing IVS, we cannot thank them enough for their efforts, communication, and genuine care towards our cat during that crazy 4-5 day span.Dr. Blake and Rupiper were stars and should be so proud of what they do. Without your guys expertise, things could have been way different. These two are genuine and give pet owners a sense of peace and hope. We cannot thank you enough and hope you can use this as continued motivation and appreciation for what you do with your rollercoaster of a job.The front desk was also super kind and supportive throughout the process. Their job is so hard too juggling all the different emergencies and billing situations. We also appreciate all your efforts when helping with us <3People who read this review and are thinking about using this place. Both sides are going to be going through a rollercoaster of emotions for each unique situation. Be thoughtful and kind and I am sure it will be given right back to you. No place or person is perfect. All you can hope is that communication and execution take place and that increases if you let them do their job and focus at the main problems at hand!

If I could give this place 100,000,000 stars, I would. I frantically called them, when an accident happened with my dog, and they met me with what seemed like all of the sympathy, calmness, and professionalism this world has to offer. I entered their very clean and neat office, and all the front desk ladies reflected everything I had heard and felt over the phone call. They were clear with upfront cost and what the possible estimate may total out. The Dr came out and explained her findings in layman’s terms, with compassion, and understanding. They had done an operation on my dog, and went great! The vet tech (that we had throughout the entire process) explained everything, from what to expect when we see our dog, to how to administer medication in a concise, organized, and professional manner. Words can’t express how impressed I am with the level of care they supply here! THANK YOU x1000 IVS FOR EVERYTHING! ❤️P.S. If your budget allows, this is your sign to get pet insurance for your dog!

We had to take my cat Liono here late at night on a Thursday. The staff was so kind and knowledgeable from reception to vet. We were met with quickness and sympathy. The vet was amazing!! She explained everything to us completely and without hesitation. She gave us our options and her honest opinion. When we called back the next day they answered our questions immediately. I believe they helped save his life. I even received a follow up call first thing Monday morning after the weekend asking how he was. It is costly but worth every penny as far as we are concerned. Thank you!

I’ve use their services twice. They are highly skilled, professional and friendly. They explained what they would do for my pet and have great advice. This office truly is a pet emergency room. It has a much higher level of care options, equipment, testing capabilities, and up to date knowledge than a traditional vet office. They have staff available to provide that care 24/7. Be prepared to pay a fee relative to the value of all those resources.I’m thankful we have this type of facility in our community

Amazing!! Came in at 1:00am because I was concerned with my dogs breathing. EVERY SINGLE PERSON, from the front desk, to the techs, to the vet herself was absolutely wonderful. Kind, caring, understanding. Listened to my concerns, treated my dog with love, explained everything very well to me and never judged me for being a pregnant crying mess. 10/10 would recommend!I read reviews before I came, so let me remind you: treat people the way you want to be treated and you often get the same in return, this is an ER, not your daily vet or a specialist, and not all problems are fixable or affordable, especially if you put them off, or it’s an ongoing issue, but they have to do tests to know what the problems are first. There is no magic in science, so don’t expect it. ?
