Came at 11:45 and nobody was there, doors were locked to the service counter. The hours do NOT indicate that the location is closed in any way during lunch hours. I knocked on the glass door maybe 3 times as the lobby was still open (suggesting that someone was still there). Finally, in a last ditch effort to receive support, I knocked on a different door and was met with a very rudely toned “I am on lunch!!!” Firstly, if you are understaffed for the day, you could put up a sign. Secondly, you could have stated that kindly the first time I knocked because clearly you had heard me. Thirdly, this is downtown Des Moines, and it would stand to reason that people might be trying to make a run to the post office during their lunch break, not the best time to close up shop - especially unscheduled. Just overall so rude!

I forgot my wallet once, and the lady at the counter told me not to worry about paying and to 'pass the blessing.' It was such a kind gesture, especially since USPS doesn't get much support. I came back to pay her the next day, and I really appreciate the generosity. The staff here is always amazing!

I love having a post office downtown. The staff is super friendly, helpful and efficient. I feel like they deserve 10 stars! Excellent service!

That black lady that works in there is very rude and non friendly. She should quit and go work in the department of transportation with that attitude, very non customer service feeling. God forbid if you ask for a piece of tape.

They have the best employees at this location.I usually print out my labels at home and drop my packages off at this location. One time I had an international package and was going to pay/fill out the customs form in the office. I forgot my wallet, offered to just come back the next day. The sweet lady working told me she would pay with her own money for it to get shipped out and I could pay her back the next time I'm there. I came back the next day of course to pay her back, that was very sweet and generous on her part.

They changed my mailbox lock and gave me a new key, then after they put a hold on my mail which I removed. It's even 3 weeks and still no mail and they can't tell me where it's at. I receive weekly workman comp checks through the mail which I now can't get.

Deanna was very helpful and listed all the options I had for sending my mail. The hours they are closed are clearly posted on the door. No issues, and I’ll definitely be back!

I was there before 11:30 which seemed to be Deanna lunch time and she didn't help send my package instead just locked the building and said she would be back at 12:30 pm. This is unacceptable, if you have a customer you help them.
