“My 8 year old Cavchon had stopped eating, drank rarely, and was very lethargic for about 3 days. After I called the clinic, I was able to get in immediately. Dr. Young and her technician, Hailey were every way kind and compassionate, both with me and my dog. The medication that was prescribed worked very well and Hailey even sat down with me to discuss how to best administer it. Each time we have gone to Petersen's Pet Hospital we have always been treated wonderfully, from the front desk check-in personnel to Dr. Young and Hailey. It is very obvious that they care about the animals they treat. I would highly recommend their services.”

“Dr. G and staff are extremely caring and thorough. My 14 year old foster with IVDD had glaucoma and no judgements, no finger pointing, no "Why haven't you put this dog down already?" He patiently explained all the options and prognosis plus the costs, what to expect, and when it was time, what to look for. He recognized that Mac wasn't ready to cross over quite yet and neither was I and he made him comfortable in his last days. For that, I and the rescue group I volunteer for are truly grateful.”

“They explain issues and treatment options at length and in writing. They're more expensive but feeling like everything possible is being done for my pet is irreplaceable.”

“This is a wonderful organization that is making neutering and spaying affordable to anyone that calls and sets up an appointment. The solution to unwanted litters is in making sure the cats and dogs in our community are unable to procreate. They are non judgmental and professional and I hope they will be able to continue this service for many years!”

“Amazing place!! My German Shepherd has a very hard time at the vet. She completely stresses out and it’s a hard task to even get her through the front door. The lady at the front desk and the vet tech could see that I was struggling just to get her to the door. They kindly helped and opened both doors so that I could just run with her into the room. Once in the room everyone was amazing!!! Couldn’t be happier with Ross Vet clinic. Little things go a long ways!”

“I have had two very awesome experiences here!!
1. I recently rescued a stray kitten and being in rough shape I wanted to get her checked out right away. I called my regular vet and they couldn't fit me in for a week, so I did some calling around and found Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital, they were able to fit me in the next day. The staff was very kind and the Vet's are very knowledgeable and are caring towards your pet. They were also way more affordable than other clinics I have been to.

2. Yesterday one of my others cats started having trouble breathing and it was obvious he was very uncomfortable, called my regular vet once again and they couldn't get us in for 3 days. Not wanting to wait, I reached out to Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital and they were able to get him in the same day (a huge relief)! The visit, an x-ray, and some medication and once again I was shocked at the price, walking out for under $300. Anywhere else your looking at $250-300 just for the x-ray. I'm definitely going to make Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital my first choice in the future for any of my pets needs.”

“Copied from my Facebook:

I just need to take a second and praise the staff and doctors over at Heartland Animal Hospital in Marion.

A few weeks ago I took the cats in for their annual exams and they recommended that my sweet little Mae girl get her teeth cleaned, and that some would need pulled. She’s been my most expensive kiddo, as this was her 3rd surgery in the 5 years I’ve had her, with this being her 2nd dental procedure. This was our first visit with Heartland, as I was looking into finding a new care team for my fur-kids.

When Mae went in for her dental procedure a week later, the vets at Heartland found something wrong with her heart. This is where they went above and beyond the level of excellence I’ve ever expected to receive from a veterinary team. They immediately stopped the procedure, and got in contact with me to schedule further testing. They did two separate rounds of testing, one requiring a special animal cardiologist to come into the Heartland clinic and visit with Mae.

The results from her specialist heart exam showed an abnormality. It’s all fancy medical talk. From what I know, she will need routine heart exams every 9-12 months in order to stay on top of her developing condition. The heart condition is unclear, but they know that whatever it is, it’s in a very early stage. So we continue the testing to stay ahead of it. As well as the annual cardiologist exam, we’ve been given some tests to run at home monthly to monitor Mae’s health.

I think most people wouldn’t want to throw $800 at a heart exam for a cat every 9-12 months. For me, it’s a way to ensure she has a healthy and pain free rest of her life. Whatever caused her to fail her ECG is still developing, and I trust this team to tell me when enough is enough for my little Mae. And there’s no team I would trust more than these folks over at Heartland Vet. I know that I can rest easy when the time comes to make the call for little Mae to cross the Rainbow Bridge, because I know that this team will be there to support her and me every step of the way.

If you’re looking for a new vet, or even if you aren’t. I encourage you to visit the folks at Heartland Vet in Marion. You will pay more than some of the other clinics in town. But these people and the level of care they provide is above all of the rest. And it is worth every penny. A huge thing for me has been patient education. They spend so much time teaching me and explaining everything about my pets. When Willow got her second case of kennel cough a few weeks ago, and then got pneumonia on top of that, her care team there did everything possible to get her taken care of quickly and safely. They care for your pets as though they are their own, it shows, it matters, and it’s worth it. Knowing I have this team on my side in the battle of taking care of FIVE pets, helps ease so much anxiety in making sure they have proper medical care.

I can’t thank the Heartland Vet Clinic enough for all of their support, education, and professionalism these last few weeks. They’ve built lasting relationships with me and with my fur-kids. They’re truly amazing.”

“Dr. Wilharm is very friendly, knowledgeable and calming. He’s very easy to communicate with too. Actually same goes for the whole staff! Most importantly to us, our dog doesn’t mind going there at all.”

“Dr. Johnson was great!! You can tell that the people here really do care about the animals and not the $ which is so important when finding a place to take your fur babies!! We had an amazing experience and loved Dr. Johnson and vet techs. Very attentive and informative. Made us feel very comfortable! We will be back!”

“Been going here for years. Very happy with the service, especially as of late. Other places are cheaper but I've found that you have to go back multiple times to fix an issue with them VS just once at ACH. Dr. Zylstra has been a game changer for that place. He's very informative and easy to deal with.”

“EDIT TO ADD: Once again, Graham Animal Hospital exceeded my expectations with their genuine care and support today when we had to say goodbye to our beloved kitty, Sylvester. Thank you.
I have trusted Graham Animal Hospital since they opened and earned my devotion with their caring, amazing care of my beloved cat who had kidney disease along with caring for many of my foster animals. Yesterday, my chihuahua got between two fighting cats and required fairly extensive surgery to mend her wounds. She is pictured, adorably bandaged at Graham Animal Hospital after the tender and very financially reasonable care that she received. (Fyi, I would have paid anything for my baby but was very happily surprised and relieved upon receiving the bill.) Highly recommended for your fur babies!”

“My Shepadoodle had two spots on his leg that he had been licking and biting until they bled. My vet’s office just does well care visits and had no opening for a few weeks, really! The week before I took his sister to the emergency clinic out by the airport for a cut. I paid more than $700 to have it treated, ridiculous. So, I had to find a vet that could treat him as a non-emergency. Heartland did a great job. He had been there before and they got him in right away and examined him. We left with the medication all for less than $100. Great place to bring your pets.”

“I absolutely love Dr Meier! She solved so many problems with my oldest cat who is now in perfect health! And my second kitty has been experiencing so many issues and she quickly squeezed him in and has helped me understand so much and help diagnose him and get him on a path of good health! 100% recommend her! Super helpful and been helpful pay wise to understand stuff is expensive and giving other ways to get what I need to help me financially!”

“I’ve always had a good experience at Linn Animal North. They truly care about your pet and do everything they can to help. I know prices are high with everything right now and I respect the quality care they provide for the price I pay. When I had the toughest day of my life with having to put down my 18 year old cat, they were extremely compassionate and patient while explaining everything thoroughly as to make sure I was with them on every step in the process. They even sent a card of condolences after ♥️ I’ll never forget their compassion and will continue to work with them in the future (while recommending them to everyone I can)”

“My dog was seen for the first time here and it was the best vet I’ve been to. Staff is organized and professional and the prices are reasonable. My dog saw Dr. Garman and she spent a lot of time explaining everything. My dog Dee Dee is very shy and she was taken care of perfectly.”

“Very impressed! Our long-term vet recently retired and we transferred to this practice for our dogs (ages 14 and 2 yrs). We came on two different days (my request) and met with two different doctors. Both gave so much time to us, it was remarkable. They had printed out our dogs' entire histories that had been faxed over from our other vet and they had already read everything about their patient(s) before entering the room. My husband and I work in human medicine and I hope we are doing as well!”
