Three years ago I decided to make the switch to UBT Bank. I'd always banked with the same national chain, but I was finally fed up with the silly company wide policy changes that the local branches could do nothing about. Oh boy! There really is a difference when you decide to go with a local company/bank, rather than a national chain! In my situation, it was a business account that I needed to open, but I'd banked so long at the "other place" that I couldn't remember what I needed to bring in to open a new account. I called to ask and the teller took my name/number down. Very quickly I got a call back (wish I could remember her name...Kathy or Kay, maybe) and she took a lot of time helping me decide which type of account I should open - figuring up how many transactions per month I'd probably have, daily average balance, etc. The whole "feel" of this bank is personal and attentive!!! I was worried that I'd have to give up good online banking or a good phone app, but UBT's technology is just as great! These days I mostly do mobile deposit, but when I do need to "go to" the bank, the tellers are always helpful, cheerful, and I never have to wait long. I highly recommend this bank!
