A delightful surprise tucked into a curve of the upper Mississippi. I felt as though the books in Paper Moon were curated just for me. Pearl the cat helped me pick out a sci-fi novel and the owners charmed me with stories about the many cats that have made the store their home. If you're traveling along the Great River Road, it's a great place to stop.

Truly one of my favorite shops in Iowa! I've been popping into their store whenever I get the chance for over a decade now. Just recently, I ordered a few things from their online shop and received the package super quickly, (less than 3 business days!). There were even some lovely little extra goodies and a handwritten note included! This store, and the lovely women who run it, are rare treasures indeed. Their taste and style are impeccable, and the shop kitties have always been a major bonus, too ?⬛️

I've stopped by the Paper Moon a couple of times during my annual Thanksgiving visit to Prairie du Chien. The staff is friendly. For such a small store, the owner or book buyer does a wonderful job getting interesting books to read. Although I'm sure the owner and I have different political beliefs, the selection is wonderfully eclectic. I bought four books, all of which struck my fancy. I doubt there is a bookstore within a fifty or seventy-five radius that has such a good selection for its size.

Such a fun little slice of McGregor! Tucked away in a beautiful historic building, you can find the perfect quirky gift or addition to your home or bookshelf here. Great for a stop a girls outing or holiday shopping! Jenn and Louise are lovely owners who care deeply about their customers.

Paper Moon is hands down my favorite indie book store. I always make a point to try to stop a couple times a year on my travels. The store is so unique and full of wonderful treasures in every corner that I'm sure you're going to find more than you need- I always do!
