The building itself is neat and full of character, featuring antique items like an old switchboard. Guests describe the rooms as very clean, very large, spacious, and comfortable, with some offering amazing views. The staff is consistently noted as very friendly, accommodating, nice, and helpful. The hotel offers a good complimentary breakfast with a limited selection, including highly recommended cinnamon rolls, and the service is accommodating to dietary needs. There are great food options on site and nearby. The building's age is part of its appeal, though some areas like the warped marble stairs show wear. Enjoyed my stay here- I love older hotels- this definitely fits the mold. New Owners are ambitious and friendly and trying to remodel a place that has alot of potential. Never stayed here, just gone to meeting, parties & dinner. I miss the restaurant. If Ottumwa lets this historic place close, they are losing a treasure.

Fantastic hotel, definitely vintage style. The elevator is a little rickety but it makes it seem more old fashioned
