“I'm so happy with the service I received today at this location! I walked in and needed balloons... Now normally I just go to the section that has ones already blown up and just pick a few from there so as to not bother anyone, but I had a specific theme I was looking for today. The women there were so sweet and helpful and DEFINITELY made me feel valued. sometimes when I go into a store, especially if you're asking for help with something that requires a little bit of extra effort, I often feel like I'm a burden or that the worker is put out by helping me, but today was the complete opposite! Both of them were the sweetest, happy to blow up the specific balloons for me and absolutely made my day! Great job to the staff at the South Delaware location in Ankeny! I'm thoroughly pleased!”
“This store has so much stuff in here. It's literally a "General" store as it says it is. Just don't come here if you are claustrophobic. You will probably have a panic attack at some point, especially if there are other people shopping in the aisles with you. There is not much room to move do to the amount of inventory in here.I stopped in today looking for some specific containers to fit my collectibles for traveling, and the cashier was super nice and let me bring a couple to the counter and even bring my collectibles inside to check and see if they would fit before buying them instead of wasting my money on something that wouldn't work and having to return them. That was extremely nice of her. I didn't get her name, but she was working today at the Altoona store at around 3:30pm...So if you read this, Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciated it.”
“You never know what u are going to find there. But like every store you just have to watch what you buy. Most times everything you buy there is more than the price you pay. I love this store.”
“The best place to buy a lot of things! I go there for balloons, cards, toiletries, faux flowers often.
Many locations around Des Moines to choose from. Some are better kept than others, but always a good selection.”

“i love the variety and the affordability. its my favorite place to shop first. then if i cant find it here, then im forced to go elsewhere. i am always shocked at some of the things i here wen ive seen the same items other places for 5 times the amount. thier quality is also getting better all the time as well. i usaully only need 3 or 4 things when i stop,but, never leave without a minimum of at the very least, 50 items”
“These types of stores you never get the best customer service but feel they go out of their to make your experience pleasant I have never felt that at store like this and not just one or two employees all then super nice thank I appreciate”
“I didn't go inside the store. I pulled in their parking lot to sit out a severe storm. I couldn't see the road because it was raining so hard. Thanks for a safe place to sit out a storm. I made it home safely! ?”
“A few boxes in the aisles is much better than being shoved out of the way at Walmart in Indianola by the employees filling online orders in those humongous rolling carts. This DG has friendly employees and you will usually find what you need. Employees are filling shelves and when a customer needs checked out quite often the employee has no choice but to leave a box in the aisle because a customer is at the checkout. It's not because no one is stocking or cleaning. The self check really needs to comeback. That will allow more time for employees to stock shelves, empty the box and take it to the back room.”
“This was one of the cleanest most organized Dollar Tree I have been in for a long time. I'm assuming she was the manager- was very helpful I am rarely in that area, but if I am I will definitely be back! Cashier was pleasant as well.”
“Always really cute stuff for home decor here. I forget about this store alot.Why is it always dead silent in DG stores though? For real.This one is cramped....really messy and dirty out front. Bout time they installed self check out with how short staffed they have been becoming. But on the other hand... if they keeping they're employees stocking the store, then it should look nicer. This store is a messsssss.”
“I absolutely love this Dollar general they treat me like family and I'm not just saying that. Couple times I went in there looking for a last minute mask to pick up my kids from daycare in and they were nice enough just to hand me one from behind the counter. They are always so nice when I come in and super nice when I leave. The environment is probably the main reason that I keep going in there. Love this place.”
“A bit cluttered, and always short staffed but cashiers always friendly and helpful, and store well stocked . Love the large selection of greeting cards!! Hope the road construction crew get the road finished SOON, as it is very difficult to enter and exit parking lot right now”
“I go in this store almost every day. I have zero complaints. Workers are always very polite. Even on my worst days going to this store always cheers me up. This store is my happy place. People like to complain about the bathrooms etc.. then maybe they should come in and fix the stuff that’s broken because the employees are doing what they can. Especially when the customers are constantly stealing the keys. Try working the job they do before running mouths. I swear all the complaints on here are ridiculous. A bunch of Karen’s in my opinion. I’ve never once seen any of the workers at this DG be rude in any way or form. Just saying. This store is awesome. My children and husband love this store as well. Very welcoming and loving. I’d even go as far to say it’s my home away from home. lol. Love this store. Deserves 100 stars if I could give that.”

“I’ve been to this location many times with my grandma, the area might seem ruff to those who aren’t from around here, but if you need something to eat, or something for your home it’s a great place to go, my grandma always gets sparkling flavor infused water so if there’s any lovers of that beverage reading this , hey you’ve just find your new go to spot.”

“I had a good shopping experience at this Family Dollar as I always do when I go into a Family Dollar. The prices are competitive as is to be with any store, when it comes to house decoration you can find some unique items for affordable prices which I like. The only thing that I have an issue with which seems to be an issue at all Family Dollars, is the fact that there Overstock is always in the center of the aisles which makes it difficult for shopper's what carts to navigate the store. This also makes the store look cluttered or unorganized which I know is not the case. I would and will continue to shop at Family Dollar even if its just to run in and grab a quick bag of chips or to spend some time and see what they have new.”
“There is definitely a difference between family Dollar stores, it's almost like night and day I went to the family Dollar up on University next to McKay's the manager's name was Ashley and she was absolutely a poor service provider. When I asked her about her policy she was really kind of vague stated I could go online and find the information there. She said that other family Dollar stores would take back the item that I purchased from them, I thought that doesn't make sense. Or the stores individually owned, so I left out of there after telling her that she should know more about her policies and procedures especially if she was a manager and she thought that was quite rude of me. I went on another errand, Indian pass another family Dollar store on Southeast 14th you're talking about customer service she had it going on. She said they called her the boss lady, I believe her name was Christina what she laid out for customer service was something that a lot of the stores have lost.I explained my situation and she said without hesitation come on in and let's see what we can do for you and truly enough I left out of there very satisfied with what she had done. Customer service is far gone they take your money but really don't care whether you shop there or not, I told Ashley I would never step foot back in to that store on University as they were just playing not organized and not customer service friendly. We can all designate how and when we're going to spend our money but we don't have to pay people to be unkind when you're trying to get a simple answer to a question that they should be prepared for.”
