“I am a regular customer and I finally want to share my positive experiences. The employees are always very nice and the shelves/fridge/freezer sections are always stocked accordingly. Christina is always very nice especially while stocking and apologizing for anything that may be in a customer’s way during the stocking process. There was another gal stocking non-food shelves today which she was also very apologetic while fulfilling her duties to stock the shelves. While checking out there is always the same 2 gals, again very nice however I didn’t catch their names. As a regular patron there are times where there might be merchandise to stock, but I truly believe I go on possible truck days as the other day I went aisles were free and clear.with absolutely no merchandise or boxes. I always see the employees working hard so I believe we need to give grace when warranted and compliment when it’s due.”

We argued and she says we'll you.dont have to come back..FINE I WONT YOUR RUDE AS HELL.. And I haven't been back to that one since”

Bout time they installed self check out with how short staffed they have been becoming. But on the other hand... if they keeping they're employees stocking the store, then it should look nicer. “On my way to the airport, stopped in to grab a couple things for my flight. This is not a typical Dollar General! Clean, organized, and the three workers that were there, which is odd for Dollar General, the one guy working said 'oh it's truck day, so you see more of us at once!' made me laugh. The one lady with the tattoos, when I got to the checkout was making everyone laugh whether they were 80 or 8. She asked me 'oh you must be going on a trip somewhere with these items' I was like yeah, how do you know? She laughed and said well...either common sense, or my almost 30 years of retail, do the math kiddo...and she's younger than me! HA! Everyone seems to want to complain about stuff, but I want people to know that this place is so cool! Next time I am back in Des Moines, will stop here for any thing I need!”

“I'm only giving it 4 instead of 3 because of the young man who had to deal with the long line of customers after the female, I'm assuming who was on break, came to her register, making a few people think she was opening up then instead just walked away. I get that it's a break but if there's a long line, and you don't want to come back to work, don't look like you're going to jump in and help then simply ignore the line of people, who also assumed you were coming back, and left them hanging. The young man just took it all in stride, he was professional and efficient.”

“It's a decent neighborhood store. They seem to change managers and employees frequently, so the c9ndition 9f the store seems to depend on who the manager is. Right now it's great. Corporate seems to fail the stores frequently. They demand resets etc, even when there aren't enough employees to get it done. They limit the amount of hrs employees can work, even when the managers don't have enough employees to cover shifts. And, this particular store on E. 42nd went without a bathroom for an extended period of time. DG corporates answer to the problem was to put a porta potty in the parking lot. Smh The current manager and employees at this store are great. They're friendly, helpful, and always seem to keep themselves busy. I'm a frequent shopper here and at the Pleasant Hill store.”
