I met Lily Hou, yoga instructor, at the West Des Moines Chapter of American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) March 20, 2014 meeting. Lily spoke about stress management and yoga.I started individual weekly yoga classes in April 2014. Lily taught me the correct way to move into yoga poses, hold it, and gradually go deeper into the pose, so not to hurt myself. My flexibility, strength and balance have improved greatly over the last 8 years. Yoga also helped improve my bone density.

Beautiful facility with an excellent instructor. Lily is very professional and tailors each session to my needs. I’ve strengthened my body and found confidence in progressing in new yoga positions; this work has improved my overall quality of life.

No doubt Lily knows yoga but communication is terrible and when our lines crossed I was subjected to nothing short of harassment. Very disappointing.

As they say, life can throw you a curve ball. At the age of 49, I was an active, working mother and wife when my body gave out on me. I was forced to quit my job and go on disability. After a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from Mayo Clinic, the next 16 years I required a wheel chair and cane. With the help of an experimental drug, I am not cured, but I no longer need my cane and seldom my wheelchair. During the 16 years, I had lost a lot of muscle strength and flexibility. Recently, Lily Hou came into my life. I can’t say enough about Lily and what her yoga lessons have done for me. She is so patient. She works with my limitations as I rebuild my body. She explains the benefits and the correct way of the poses. She stops class immediately to address any issues or concerns I may have. Lily has been a blessing for me!Wendy R

Lily Hou was my first yoga instructor. She was wonderfully adaptive at working with a senior age female. She knew that a restorative yoga practice was just as important as one that would provide a chance to build some strength and flexibility. Lily respects the individual abilities and challenges of her students and provides safe and professionally guided practice in a beautifully appointed studio. You won’t find a better teacher for any level or style of yoga. Nor will you find a more caring teacher.

Lily is the best yoga teacher I have ever met!!! I took a private class with my mom and I was amazed at her ability to teach different levels of yoga at the same time. She is a very compassionate teacher and she challenges you in a way that is fun and rewarding. I highly recommend taking class or private classes with her, as she is a gemir a teacher and a person. Thank you Lily!

I first went to Lily after having some health issues that affected my muscles. She meets you where you are and helps you to improve at your own pace. I appreciate that so much! I became much stronger and gained flexibility and made a new friend in the process! I have been doing yoga with Lily for over a decade. I started in her amazing group classes and then went on to private lessons which has really allowed me to work on problem areas as they arise. Lily also has a wealth of knowledge about the physiology of the body and can help me work to strengthen what needs to be strengthened. Her home-based studio is so relaxing with a beautiful view of the woods. I highly recommend yoga with Lily.

About 8 years ago my professional life took a turn, and my duties really increased. I had to find a release for the stress. A colleague suggested Lily’s class. I had never taken yoga before, but Lily is such an excellent teacher I picked it up right away. I could have channeled my stress into shopping or food, instead I discovered a wonderful way to calm and re-energize myself. And I made some friends along the way. Lily started with the basics and gradually increased my skills. I never suspected I would be standing on my head at this point in my life. Lily’s instruction is focused but she is always aware of individual challenges. She is a remarkably good teacher.

Lily is the best yoga instructor I have ever met. For the last 7 years, I have been taking personal lessons to improve my flexibility. Her training has allowed me to be more flexible than I could ever imagine. Thanks Lily! You're the greatest!

My flexibility, strength and balance have improved so much during the last 1 1/2 years of private yoga at Green Yoga House. Lily adapts my workouts so that I can improve even though I have very arthritic knees. Weight and resistance work have also been very helpful for me. I look forward to yoga and feel so good after my session.

Lily is amazing. Having lower back issues, I considered doing yoga for years but didn't want to go through the "beginner" process in front of a room full of people. I found Lily, and the rest is history! I appreciate the tailored sessions, consideration for my back issues and the excellent atmosphere. I've been doing yoga with Lily for almost 2 years, and it's been an excellent experience--both for my lower back and me personally! Highly recommend.

My husband and I both have back issues. Lily works with us weekly on our strength and flexibility. We look forward to yoga, and we feel much better because of it. Lily is truly concerned about her clients and their well-being.

I’ve been taking weekly yoga classes from Lily for over a decade. She was my first yoga instructor and you won’t find another instructor who is as caring about your well being. She tailors her instruction to you individually even in my small group class. After my arm surgery, she made sure I did the poses differently as not to harm me physically. Since I’ve started yoga with Lily, I’ve gained flexibility, strength and balance. I’ve used the breathing techniques I’ve learned into my work life when I need a few minutes to relax. I highly recommend Lily as your yoga instructor. Her yoga classes are much more than exercise. It’s my one hour a week of relaxation exercise to take me away from life’s stresses.

I still remember my first yoga class. I did not know the teacher or a single person in the class. I had never done a yoga pose but I do remember how I felt when I finished. I felt like someone had “oiled” all my joints- I was hooked!
