I switched to Medi Cap on the recommendation of one of my providers. After about 3 months, I am switching back to my old pharmacy. They have no online system to request refills, and having to call to refill my initial prescriptions being a new customer, the person answering the phone was “not at a computer” but promised my prescriptions would be ready the next day. They in fact were not ready and had no record if them being requested. The last straw was that they suggested that I switch a medication simply because they couldn’t “find” it, when my prior pharmacy was filling it for years with no issues. Looking at other reviews it looks like they switched ownership and others are having the same issues. Would not recommend unless you like wasting time picking up prescriptions that aren’t ready, and running out of medication because they “cant find it”.

I picked up my prescription at the Douglas location today, and was very pleased with the very helpful input regarding my order. Melissa was extremely helpful in helping me choose a over the counter supplement. Thanks again.

I have tried to support Medicap as a smaller business entity but these people ALWAYS have a problem with prescriptions. There is always one that isn’t filled. Often, they don’t have the drug and have to “order” it. And they have ridiculous policies that they don’t tell their customers. Terrible pharmacy!

Sad to be posting this review, but we were customers of this Medicap for over 25 years, but recently there was a change of ownership and management. After the changeover they started not having some of our medications in stock. They also couldn't properly process our insurance claims causing us to have to pay too much for medications (they blamed our insurance and told US to call them to fix it). We changed to a pharmacy closer to our house and immediately the charges went back to normal without us calling anyone.

This pharmacy is the absolute BEST, hands down. My previous pharmacy closed down and I had to find a new place. Best decision ever. The staff is super friendly and you rarely have to wait in a line! If you're looking for a pharmacy, do yourself a favor and go here!

I switched to this pharmacy for myself and my dependent, adult daughter two years ago. I have dealt with many pharmacies on different levels and this one, by far, exceeds all our expectations. We had a few hiccups initially, but our concerns were met with the desire to meet our needs. They offer bubble packaging to accommodate our needs, as well. The staff is beyond helpful, including interns. Mr. Forbes has excellent training practices in place as our experience with every staff member has been consistent, professional and friendly.

It only takes one bad apple. That apple was today. 12/31/2021. Most of the employees I have encountered at this location have been friendly and helpful. All it takes is one rude and unprofessional employee to ruin the bunch. I'd elaborate more, but we'll see if anyone cares enough to follow-up on this situation. I would not recommend this location.

Said I was signed for texts when my scrips were ready, left voicemail when refilling to get text. Never got one in the 6 months I was told I would. Don’t have a problem texting advertising. Transfers scrips to new pharmacy and got a text my meds were ready. How refreshing!! Staff friendly and I think they are in a bad spot. Was told by staff they were required to state they offered text messaging but owner wasn’t paying for it.

UPS drop point for missed packages. Odd choice . Staff member immediately told me my package was not there before looking at my tracking slip.

Pharmacy staff are always very friendly & helpful. If they don't know the answer to a question you may ask they will dig until they find the right answer.

Not sure how Medicap got the contract to distribute the covid vaccine because they are obviously ill equipped to do so. Their website to sign up for the vaccine is down most of the time & when I visited the Urbandale location to sign up in person I was told my hard copy application would go into a "big pile" and no telling when they'd get back to me. I was also told they only take appointments to vaccinate approximately 30 people a day! At that rate the odds are better to die of covid than get the vaccine at Urbandale Medicap!

My wife and I used to go to the big chain pharmacies that populated the corners of the Des Moines metro area. What made us seek another pharmacy for our needs was the very impersonal service and sometimes unprofessional interactions with the Pharmacist. Always issues with insurance company policies. When we started using the Urbandale MediCap Pharmacy. Immediately we noticed a huge difference in the more personalized service from the staff at MediCap. They have all of the same medications, personal healthcare items, and immunizations that one would find elsewhere. Pricing is similar too and they accept all the same insurance payments. But what they have that others places don't have is great, friendly, and personal experience/service. That's why we will continue to be loyal MediCap customers. John Forbes and his staff are the greatest!
