I tend to give reviews when service has been above and beyond. This isn't the case in this review, the service and off putting conversation I had with the service advisor has me feeling very unsettled about Stew Hansens Service Department. My Jeep would not go over 40 mph, check engine light came on the ABS light came. I immediately drove it to the service department. I explained that the exact same thing happened almost a year ago and I spent $1900.00 to get it fixed. They were accommodating and said they would try to look at it that day to determine what was wrong. I also asked that they do an oil change because the "time for oil change" light had come on the week before. That afternoon I received a call from the advisor. He asked if I had an extended warranty, no I do not. He said I had Internal engine failure and needed a new engine. I asked how much is that and he nonchalantly said $12,100.00. I asked what my options were because I wasn't going to do that. He replied my options were get a new engine or get a new car. Fast forward to today. My daughter and her husband had the Jeep towed to their home town and are now driving the Jeep and have put several hundred miles on it driving it to Chicago one weekend and Decorah the next. They have put $0.00 into it as of today and paid for an unnecessary tow. Is there something wrong with it ?YES I do believe there is something wrong with the Jeep and it is being monitored by someone that is trustworthy. But the fact that the service advisor Tony gave me the 2 options of 1. A new $12,100 engine or B a new car is very concerning and so off putting. Ironically they charged me for the diagnostic testing and although I was told total engine failure they went ahead with the oil change and charged me for that? Makes for a lot of questions as well. There is my story I hope this makes others pause before listening to the service advisors at Stew Hansens.. You do have other options in the Des Moines area find someone that actually cares about the customer. Thankfully I had that feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was not right. Oh and I bought my self a brand new 2024 car not from them UPDATE 11/10/23 after the response from Jerry Bill the general manager indicating that they would be reviewing this I emailed him that day at the email provided with my full contact name and email. I have yet to hear anything from Stew Hansens. (I am sure Jerry is busy looking into other more pressing issues) The Jeep in which again, I was told I had two options, either a brand new engine or a new car, is being driven daily and no issues. The oil is being monitored and at this time no issues. I will continue to update this google review.Update 11/17/23 I have sent 3 emails to Jerry Bill at the email he provided on a google review. He has not responded to any of these. The Jeep is running fine. Please see another Yelp review from someone that looks to have had an almost identical situation. This is very concerning!

Called the service department today to inquire about a recall for a part on my car. Antonio was rude and threatened to charge me a $160 diagnostics fee. No way am I paying it as it is Dodge's faulty part.

My truck got towed to Stew Hansen Dodge Ram Chrysler in Urbandale last Thursday because it would not shift out of first gear. I did not hear from them so I called Sat. I spoke to Chris. He was very nice. He said he could not help me and to call back on Monday (today) I called them and they told me they would not be able to take a look at it until the end of the week. I told them I would come get it. I started it up and it of course had the same problem. I did some online research as my son advised me to and found out the likely cause of all the error messages was a bad battery. I miss the good old days when a car battery went bad the car would not start. I drove it across the street to Menards and purchased a new battery. The truck is now just fine. By the way AVOID Stew Hansen Dodge Ram Chrysler unless you don't need you vehicle for several weeks. They told me that their appointments were a month out!

I scheduled the first available appointment with Stew Hansen to service my Jeep Renegade. The first available appointment was 3 weeks from the date I booked it. My car was not drivable and required a towing service. My husband called to inquire about having the car delivered to their lot to sit there to save money on the towing services and in hopes they could get me in sooner. I have never brought my car here before. Without having ever seen the car, the representative on the phone told my husband that my car just needed an oil change and not to bother bringing it in, despite the car not being able to run without stalling and receiving an oil change a day prior. All of which had been explained. Upon dropping the car off, I did not experience the Stew Hansen "We Hear You" motto. It was quite the opposite with the male employee interrupting me multiple times regarding my concerns. I left feeling disrespected and discouraged. The call I received the next day was extremely blunt and did not detail much explanation other than this same man telling me my 5 year old Jeep needed a new, $10,000 engine. I did not understand and did not receive further details with what was going on inside my car. I took my car to Beckley's Automotive in Des Moines for a second opinion. The staff at Beckley's are extremely professional, respectful, and are willing to educate their customers to make informed decision on their vehicles. Upon their inspection of my engine they photographed minor problems that were able to be remedied for a few hundred dollars. My car is now up and running well, no thanks to Stew Hansen. I hope you hear me now!

Stopped to have fuel filter changed while traveling home to CO after TG with moms in the Midwest. They got us in right away, fixed our problem, and we were on our way in just over a hour.Friendly personnel, very organized service (run like a "well-oiled machine"), spotless clean and comfortable waiting room.

After 45 years of car buying from Stew Hansen Dodge Ram Chrysler Jeep FIAT at 12103 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA we are done with this dealership. Not only did we buy our cars from them but they were always our preferred service center as well. We started buying cars from them when they were downtown Des Moines I have even purchased all of my kid's cars with them. But that all stopped today. We just had a major hailstorm roll through our area and all I wanted to do was get an estimate and then talk about what options were available for scheduling a time for the repair. However, I got such a cold "YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE" response from the collision center. At first, I thought I was misunderstanding her so I asked again and got the same cold dry response She even doubled down by telling me that the earliest I could even think about making an appointment for an estimate was 5 weeks out and then I would have to pay $100 for the privilege. This is the response you get for 45+ years of customer loyalty. This is definitely a dealership to avoid.

I was traveling from Phoenix Arizona to Duluth Minnesota. I kept noticing a noise coming from my car. I had just gotten an oil change and a cold intake filter change prior to leaving Phoenix. I stopped to get gas and I noticed plastic shield under the engine was hanging down. I googled dodge dealerships and found this one. When I first got there I was greeted and helped immediately. Then the guy he had help me pass me to another guy who took a look at my vehicle grabbed a tool and started popping rivets off. When he noticed that the shield plate was too big to take it off Himself with the little tool he had he said there's nothing else he can do. He told me to go to the body shop in the back of the dealership. He also told me that in his professional opinion it was my fault that I had hit something. I knew 100% for fact that I did not hit anything. So I went to another service employee and he told me they were about to close he would try to write it up and help me. He also told me it would be $189 to lift the car up regardless if they could do something or not. That's when I went to the service manager Todd. Todd was the most helpful person that I've dealt with the whole time I've been a Dodge owner. I explained the situation to Todd and he was super helpful he said that he understands my frustration he took a look at the car he said he could replace the rivets for free and he even put more screws and washers that were missing on the plate. For free. The service manager is a great manager I suggest if you have any issues with the service employees go to the manager he was very rational and he listened I wish all dodge dealerships had a manager like Todd!

Very disappointed with service here. I had my car's locks and keys replaced through Stew Hansen, and for $681 they replaced my 2 keys with off market versions which were terrible quality. One key's battery never worked and it broke within 1 year of normal use, and the other key broke within *3 weeks* of normal use, but the Stew Hansen did not stand behind their product, and offered no help to fix or replace it whatsoever. In fact they said they usually only will replace the keys if something happens within 30 days of purchase. Not only is this a service issue, it is also a huge safety issue, as my key broke when I was out of state, thousands of miles from home, and these key issues left me with only the metal "key stub" that was not able to turn my car on. I have had to duct tape my key together to make it functional. And all this after paying more than $600. Very disappointing and frustrating that after paying hundreds of dollars for keys, they will not stand behind their product. I do not recommend this company.

For a simple Oil change tire rotation etc. now the check engine light was on. They turned the check engine off said they fixed it came back on within 10miles plus my 2018 Cruze is running like crap I have to spend a half a day again there. I'm not pleased about it. I'm wondering what's has broke down this time. I've been down this road three times since May2020. Last chance Billion $$
