My dog, Dude, was always very scared and aggressive at the vet, and Maria consistently worked with me to muzzle and sedate him in the safest, calmest way possible. When I had to put him down due to sudden aggressive cancer, their empathy and professionalism made an unbearable moment a little easier. Dr. Merk helped me feel confident in the decision, and I’m comforted knowing how well they cared for Dude — and for me — in his final moments. Thank you so much!”

“They made me feel very comfortable the moment I entered the office. It was my first visit and first impressions are very important. They spent all of the time necessary for the examination & I did not feel rushed at all. They were incredible with my kitty & answered all of my questions. Their follow-up after the appointment/exam was also very thorough, making sure I did not have any questions once we returned home. All in all the entire process was perfect! You cannot do better anywhere else. I am very happy to have found them.”
“Dr. Holland was very thorough and gentle with our Bolignese puppy during a vaccination and wellness visit. Since she had a severe vaccine response prior, she developed a plan going forward to minimize complications. We have used this clinic for 6 years and have always had a good experience. Costing seems to be slightly higher than other practices, but I trust my pets in their care and recommend them.”

“When I moved back to the Des Moines area, Dr. Chamberlain came very highly recommended by my previous Vet. She has lived up to the reputation! Loki‘s condition is doing much better and they did an excellent job with the neutering, he barely noticed they were gone lol and the price was over $100 cheaper than expected. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. My ONLY complaint is the pharmacy that they use is expensive, prednisolone is only six dollars at my previous vet and it was $60 at this pharmacy so that’s 10 times a more expensive. But they will write you a prescription and you can take it to a different pharmacy.”
“We love it here. The staff remembers our dog and treat him so wonderfully. When our last dog had health problems the staff were incredibly kind letting us know when it was time to let him go. And when that time came they were beyond generous in their treatment of him and us.”
“Would strongly recommend JCAH. I live in Colorado, but picked up a puppy in Nebraska and stayed in Iowa for a few weeks with family after i got him. Despite knowing from the start I was not going to be a long term client, the entire staff was amazing every step of the way. My little golden pup Arthur was very pleased with everyone, as was I. We even needed a quick appointment for a weird looking eye thing, and they got me in quick and many of the staff remembered us (turns out, he was fine). I saw three different vets and numerous vet techs, and everyone was great. If I am ever in Iowa again, I will surely use these folks. Thanks so much!”
