I had the pleasure of working with Jennifer at MeriTrust in Lawrence, and I was thoroughly impressed with her expertise. She demonstrated an exceptional knowledge of the products and provided thoughtful, tailored recommendations that made the entire experience seamless. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about Meritrust. Their customer service is truly exceptional – always friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. They've offered me better rates than big banks on both loans and savings, which has been a huge benefit. Their online banking and mobile app are user-friendly and make managing my money a breeze. If you're looking for a financial institution that puts its members first, this is it! Highly recommend!

My girlfriend and I merged our bank accounts into a high interest checking and savings account with Meritrust.
Jennifer Breitenfeldt made the process very easy to understand and she answered all of our questions quickly and understandably.
I like the web interface and the app works well. It makes it easy to understand my interest earned as well as all the transactions of course. We even get our paychecks a couple of days earlier, too!

STAY AWAY. Meritrust switched my free checking account to a $7/month paid account without my knowledge or consent and refused to refund me when I finally noticed.
I was told that it was my responsibility to keep track of changes to my account. I explained that I receive notifications about any transactions on the account--but those monthly fees don't trigger any alerts, so I had no idea they were charging me.
The worst part is that there was another type of checking account for $10/mo--but the fee is waived if you have a certain minimum balance. If I had known, I could have switched to that one and avoided the monthly fee.
There was also a $3/mo option they could have switched me to, but they opted me into the $7/mo one. They intentionally chose the one that made them the most money.
They claimed they had mailed a letter, which I never received. No email, no notification in the web interface, nothing. They also apparently sold my email address for third-party marketing services.
Ten years ago, they were great, but now they are sadly worse than the for-profit banks I switched from.

Too many Fees. Stay away.

I have been a member of Meritrust for over a decade at this time. I am now cancelling my membership because of issues with newly introduced fees, increased wait times for services, and general unresponsiveness. I specifically told a worker that I was cancelling my account and have transferred all the funds to another financial institution, yet Meritrust has allowed for a bill to be posted, resulting in an overdraft. They refuse to cancel the posted bill despite their oversight. Overall this is incredibly infuriating and I have neither paid checking account fees NOR overdraft fees my entire life until this year. I cannot recommend Meritrust to anyone anymore and I strongly advise finding a different credit union to patron.

i have been on hold for over 30 min. I pray to god i never have to call this degenerate bank ever again. Nothing but clowns working here, no sense of urgency.

I’ll preface this by saying I worked at Meritrust for two years, but I love this credit union. The mobile app and online banking are easy to use. Great savings deposit rates. Great checking account options. I’ve both worked and banked at other financial institutions and Meritrust is still my #1.

Meritrust and country hill motor run a scam. They make up intrest rate and can’t give you an exact interest rate for each month. You can have perfect credit and still they find a way to scam you. I hope the Kansas attorney general investigate them and shut them down. If you got to lie and cheat for a dollar, you minus well spend time in prison, because most people in prison are better then you as a person.

OMG- I have never in my life had to work so hard to GIVE someone money!!! Paying my mortgage monthly is the absolute biggest hassle, it takes entirely too long, and their site is pathetic, clunky to use, and not at all user friendly. I can't do anything without calling them, half the time my payment is applied to the wrong account. Now they have a new mobile site and won't accept my login info, so I guess I get to spend hours on hold. Never again will I use you for anything!

Communication is very slow and inaccurate. I have an Auto loan here and they are incredibly incompetent at record keeping and help their customers. You talk to one person and they will tell you one thing but another when you call to follow up.

Zero advantages to banking here. Been with this bank for 20 years and they do not value their customers. Go somewhere else.

Forgot my password. Tried to use their Password recovery and it asked for my number. Gave it, it didn't text me a recovery pass no that would be too easy. Instead, it sent me a random voicemail (I never got a call or anything) That verbally read me a password. The only problem? Well the Voice mail robot voice was already halfway done reciting the password before the voicemail even started. So I got half a recovery password, tried to complete it from what I could hear and my accounts now locked. Been on hold for an hour and a half now and still no sign of someone answering.

Does no one work at this bank? I’ve tried calling several times and only get an automated message and to hold to speak to someone. Only to be hung up on. Can’t wait to pay off my car loan and never deal with this bank again
