The building is amazing....especially when you consider how old it is. The information, pictures and history displayed are amazing. It is 1/2 block from the downtown. We ate lunch after touring Constitution Hall. The gentleman working was a wealth of knowledge. The merchants were super nice and lunch at the Cafe was incredible.Get the pie!So is the time to drive to LeCompton worth absolutely.

It's awesome that the town of Lecompton is trying to preserve it's great history. The building is kept in it's original state and staff are knowledgeable.

Very interesting historic site where history with national implications was made. The docent was well informed and happy to share information pertinent to the site. There were well designed placards - an educational stop in a unique little town.

A must visit for American History junkies. It was here that pro-slavery forces drafted the first Constitution for the State. If it had passed and been approved by the people of Kansas, then it would have been admitted as a Slave State. Thankfully that did not happen. Some might say the American Civil War actually began in this sleepy river town.

For a small town museum, the display is very well done. You can tell the volunteers have a passion for local history and pride in their town.

We had a great tour, by a guide who was obviously passionate about his job. He offered cookies and coffee, and made us feel very welcome. Also, he had great recommendations for books, including one they didn't even sell at their gift shop. We appreciated that he was more interested in helping us find what we needed, rather than just make a sale. The book we did buy there was perfect, just what my husband was looking for.

Lecompton Kansas and the Constitution Hall were at the center of the run up to the Civil War. The displays and information provided at the Constitution Hall help to bring those events to life and provide a personal experience that puts you in the middle of it all. Everyone from history buffs to those have never heard of “Bleeding Kansas” can’t get a better perspective than they will standing on the original floorboards of this historic building. But don’t stop there. This little town on the Kansas River has much to offer and they present it in a proud and effective manner.
