“ART INSTALLATION:
THE PERSONAL TOUCH, AND WHY IT MATTERS
We bought a wind sculpture from Leopold Gallery. We knew the gallery and were long-standing customers; we had known the owner for decades--since before he started the gallery. But unlike Leopold's many commercial customers, we had never purchased anything that needed to be installed. The wind sculpture is lovely, whether the wind is blowing or not. But this review is about the installation.
Paul Dorrell is the gallery owner. I was not surprised when it was Paul who showed up to do the installation by himself, but I was pleased.
The size of the sculpture required the digging of a large hole, the placement of the shaft that holds up the sculpture, fixing the shaft so it was perfectly vertical, mixing cement and pouring it around the shaft, waiting several hours for the cement to set, and then attaching and testing what I will call the "blades" of the sculpture.
Paul's gallery is in Kansas City, Missouri; we live in Lawrence, Kansas--an hour away. Paul made the trip to Lawrence, accomplished all of the tasks up to pouring the cement, then made good use of the time needed for the cement to cure to visit a friend in town! He came back a few hours later to complete the installation. When he was finished it was perfect.
Because we know Paul, and because he is a fine conversationalist, I was able to catch up with him and the gallery when he was doing the installation. All of that--observing how he did the work as well as the conversation--was great fun.
We now have a wind sculpture in our front yard. Thanks to Paul, it is not only beautiful but is also beautifully--and personally--installed. And our relationship with Leopold gallery is even stronger than before.”

“I absolutely loved this place. Beka was so amazing super friendly made it very comfortable and not to mention did an outstanding job. I would recommend her to anyone and for all my future tattoos I will be coming back to her. She takes into consideration the aging of tattoo and has a great artistic view and ideas. I would say she is a perfect tattoo artist.”
“They did a great job framing something for me. They have a huge selection of frame styles to choose from as well as a lot of options for different budgets. I even requested a change in how the piece would be mounted after putting in my initial order, and they were very gracious in accommodating and making the change.”
“Simple and easy planning process, and perfect spot for a wedding!! We loved the cozy loft vibe paired with the sweeping views of our favorite city ? the bridal/groom rooms, elevator, parlor, alley, and venue itself were all the perfect backdrop for so many special moments!!!”

“This a fantastic, new, and locally owned gallery that has recently opened up in the burgeoning area around KU Med. A wonderful and intimate space that has an exquisite eye for art and artists of all mediums. Lee, the owner and attendant, is a wonderful ambassador for the arts bringing both warmth and knowledge to her gallery. To fans of art at any level, I strongly encourage you to go and check out this place early and often, as I'm sure it'll become an institution in the Kansas City artist community.”

“In spite of it small space, its services to the artistic community reach out to all the Northeast and beyond. Its walls are covered with paintings from local Latin American artists at very accessible prices. It has non stop artistic activities for young and old. It is the right place to get to know the local latino artists, to make friends and enjoy the festivities of different Latin American countries. The owner, Phillys, is very kind and generous with her time, constantly creating activities to engage the artists and the community.”
