“I had been on a mission to find the best strawberry rhubarb pie in the city and was pleasantly surprised to find it at the Little Gallery Frame Shop. The filling is beautifully spiced and contains lots of fruit instead of relying on excessive amounts of sugary syrup for flavor. If I had any shame, I might be embarrassed by the number of pies I have bought from them in the short amount of time since I’ve known about them, but they’re just that good (plus I knew rhubarb season wouldn’t last forever ?). The mixed berry pie is also amazing and the couple that owns the place is really sweet.”

“Outstanding program! Although these people have disabilities, they have tons of talent in many different ways. Some people are intimated by people with disabilities as i was until I was blessed with the opportunity to really get to know Beth Hartley. I discovered something I didn't know or understand. They are PEOPLE and they have immense value to add to our understanding of diversity. They need us, to understand them and the joy returned to us cannot be put into words without experiencing personal interaction with them. Do not be afraid to love them.... They will love you in their own way.”

“I do not typically write reviews but Art and Frame Kansas City really impressed me! From the very start I was helped out by a friendly employee (forgetting her name but she was super awesome!) who guided me to take my digital piece of art to a print/frame. The whole process was very collaborative and professional. Alex then showed me the final product which looked better than I could have ever expected. I would trust them with any project!”

“This was where I first got tattooed and it’s become my go-to studio. I’ve had work by 3 different artists here and all have been great experiences. I’ve had an ongoing project with Megan that we just completed, and a few other pieces from her. The work is stunning, and Megan is a creative and talented artist, who is also kind and fun. My work from Dani and Georgy are also some of my favorite pieces. The studio itself has a great atmosphere and is extremely professional and clean. Can’t wait to go back!”

“This a fantastic, new, and locally owned gallery that has recently opened up in the burgeoning area around KU Med. A wonderful and intimate space that has an exquisite eye for art and artists of all mediums. Lee, the owner and attendant, is a wonderful ambassador for the arts bringing both warmth and knowledge to her gallery. To fans of art at any level, I strongly encourage you to go and check out this place early and often, as I'm sure it'll become an institution in the Kansas City artist community.”

“I really like the Box Gallery. They always have exceptional exhibits and It is Free and open from 8 am to 8 pm Mon-Fri and is located on the skywalk system downtown in the Commerce Arcade (near coffee kiosks, offices and restaurants like Charisse) and just a block from the Central Library. I wanted to Update my review to highlight the current show which ends Thursday January 25. It is really cool and worth a special trip to see! Susan Lordi Marker's "Echoes Of The Prairie: Works in Cloth" features beautiful textiles of silk, linen and cloth treated with mild acids and adorned with dyes and sometimes gold leaf that create a beautiful narrative of the light, colors and shadows that interplay in prairie ecosystems. Her passion and love for them and desire to raise awarness to their plight is inspiring. I especially love the storyboards that offer more information on the prairies and give you a chance to touch samples of all of the different fabrics and describe the artist's techniques. The exhibit is only open a few more days so get down there ASAP. Check out my pics below! #ericnielsenkc #boxgallery #susanlordimarker #kanzaprairie #missouriprairie #monarchwatch”

“They did a great job framing something for me. They have a huge selection of frame styles to choose from as well as a lot of options for different budgets. I even requested a change in how the piece would be mounted after putting in my initial order, and they were very gracious in accommodating and making the change.”

“In spite of it small space, its services to the artistic community reach out to all the Northeast and beyond. Its walls are covered with paintings from local Latin American artists at very accessible prices. It has non stop artistic activities for young and old. It is the right place to get to know the local latino artists, to make friends and enjoy the festivities of different Latin American countries. The owner, Phillys, is very kind and generous with her time, constantly creating activities to engage the artists and the community.”

“Blue Gallery is a hug of inspiring, thoughtfully curated art and artists. I’m always finding pieces that continue to move me long after they’re placed in my home.I especially love December’s Wonderwall exhibition and their print shop if you’re looking for art on a budget. They also offer layaway, which I used once to purchase a larger piece. They truly care about making art accessible to all. The founder, Kelly, also represents several local and female artists, which I love.If you’re looking for art that will reflect your own beauty back to you, stop into Blue today.”

“My friend and I attended date night and we had so much fun. Date night was $100 total, ($50 each). The instructors were friendly and patient. “We've been visiting this shop for years now, usually right around the holidays to look for gifts. They have lots of jewelry, ornaments and ceramics, as well as other handmade gifts to choose from. Staff is always friendly and helpful and is generally one of the artists taking their turn at staffing the location.”

“This is the place to be on First Friday. Part art gallery and part music venue. The art gallery rotates presenting artists. It also sells selected works and hosts interactive events like painting classes. The music venue schedules mostly electronic and dance-based performers. The events are usually scheduled on weekend evenings however special events will pop up from time to time. It's a little small inside, but the sound is pretty good. Lights are okay. A cash bar with limited beers and mixed drinks is available.”

“Greenlease Gallery is located on the campus of Rockhurst University and is named for the schools prominent benefactor - Virginia Greenlease and her family. The horrific kidnapping and murder of Bobby Greenlease in 1953 was a major story in Kansas City and the nation. Rockhurst's Jesuit Catholic priests comforted the family and in return the wealthy family donated money, land, and art to the university over many decades. With Rockhurst being a Catholic University it is natural that their permanent collection is a remarkable collection of religious paintings and artifacts dating back to 1400. An impressive small collection that also includes a few exhibits that teach and explain Catholic rituals and their plethora of saints. There is also a few relics from Judaism in the collection. Not being a fan of religion or his type of art, I was more intrigued in the other half of the gallery with it's current rotating exhibit - This Land is My Land / Your Land; an installation by Cynthia Daignault. A collection of 100's of small oil paintings that she reproduced from photos taken at 27 mile increments in a journey around the periphery of the nation. A heady undertaking of travel and artistic productivity. A great artistic travelogue of the nation. The exhibit ends 12/02/22. A relatively small gallery but housing a great contrast of antiquities to rotating experimental. Any fan of art or those devoted to the Catholic faith should pay Greenlease a visit.”

“What beautiful furniture and furnishings!!!!!!! I thought I knew what to expect when I walked through the door, but it was that and so much more!!!!! While my taste tends to run a bit more toward traditional, this showroom drew me in! Such intriguing pieces!!!!!!!! We’ve just recently downsized, so everything on my wish list couldn’t be fulfilled. I did, however, find THE lamp I’ve been needing all my life! The owner was very accommodating, and I enjoyed the simple opportunity to browse.”
