Ad Astra Books & Coffee House is more than just a comfortable and interesting place to meet, hang out, study, drink coffee and buy books. They aim to be a leading cultural center for regional arts and literature, and a thriving community gathering place. Thanks to Downtown Pop Culture, they also offer comics, vinyl, CDs, and gifts. Whether it be a place for live music, author readings, poetry nights, book signings, film showings, or children's theater, their programming and outreach has come to define their greater mission: to keep the torch of the imagination lit and to use it to reveal this place called Kansas and these still unexplored Great Plains. This coffee shop and bookstore rivals some of the places in Kansas City. Despite being from out of town, the place made the customers feel welcomed and like part of the community. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the establishment is LGBTQ+ and vegan-friendly. They offer a variety of options, including lattes, London fogs, and the special Kernza toast with calico beans. The place serves both good coffee and tea, providing a magical experience. The food at Ad Astra is fresh and homemade, and the coffee never disappoints. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the place is a nice spot for a coffee, snack, or breakfast. The customers enjoyed the dark chocolate pistachio latte, the breakfast burrito, and the bagel with lox, all of which were tasty and flavorful. The service was friendly and efficient, and the customers would certainly return if in the area. Ad Astra is an office away from the office for some customers. They love the culture and environment that the owner, Tammy, has created in Downtown Salina. The customers are hooked on the almond joy coffee and other menu items.
Coffee was great, book selection was a bit lacking but for a used book store they still had a wide selection of genres. I would cone back for the coffee for sure.

Cozy, cool coffee shop. Inclusive of all, welcoming, and very friendly staff. Good coffee. Kids play area with toys, books, blocks, etc. wish I lived closer so I could come by more often. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.
