About Aztec Shawnee Theater
Aztec Shawnee Theater, built in 1927 and restored in 2020, is a charming venue that offers live concerts, classic movies, and private event spaces. The theater features comfortable, theater-style seating, including brand new high-back movie chairs with cup holders, and a large dance floor in front of the stage. The sound system is highly praised, with performers and guests alike impressed by the quality of the audio. The venue has a friendly and accommodating staff, who take pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, even going the extra mile to ensure the restrooms are spotless. The theater hosts a variety of events, including cover bands like U2 and REM, tribute acts such as Killer Queen, and even band performances with large groups, thanks to its spacious stage. Ticket prices are considered very good value, especially for the quality of entertainment and seating options, which include theater seats and VIP areas with bar tables. While seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, staff are flexible and eager to help guests find a comfortable spot. Located in a safe area with bars and restaurants nearby, Aztec Shawnee Theater is seen as a cool, nostalgic place to enjoy music or movies. Its friendly staff, great sound, and versatile event space make it a favorite spot for both performers and visitors.
Our favorite live music venue in Kansas City. Free, safe parking in a super clean retro theater. Full bar and great popcorn. All seats are good, and we love the option of reserved VIP seating. The people make all the difference, and family owned and ran is so lovely in this corporate world.

Love this venue! It's a pretty small indoor venue but I think that's what makes it amazing. No matter where you're sitting you have a good seat. There is parking very close by and they usually have a food truck out front during events. Close convenient location.
