Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park is a lovely and very nice state park with plenty of outdoor adventures for both adults and children. It is a great place with friendly people and a clean environment. The park features a quaint museum that tells the history of the battlefield and has several relics, along with part of the buffalo trace trail. There are several easily hikable trails, a nice river for canoeing, and events like historical reenactments. The lodge is beautiful and well-kept, though some rooms can have problems with the AC being too warm. The restaurant offers a great buffet with a lot of food options, including a dinner buffet described as a delight. However, the dining experience has received mixed feedback, with mentions of a menu containing lots of salty casseroles and soups, a salad bar that is just okay, and a need for healthier alternatives and simpler options. For camping, the campsites are nice, though they are a bit closer together. The playground is centrally located, which is great for keeping an eye on children. The bathrooms could use a bit of cleaning, but the showers are hot. Overall, it is a highly recommended and wonderful state park to visit.
Nice campgrounds. Nearly level sites. Nice playground area with basketball court. Clean bathhouses.
