A must visit for historical places in the Baton Rouge area. Helped at a high end gala & they were so supportive of set up, event flow. And take down. Went back for a self guided tour, and loved the place even more. The staff is so friendly, they have a virtual guide, a little write up for each of the rooms, and a scavenger hunt. Whole place takes less than an hour, so pair it with the old state capital, and a downtown restaurant.

I think this is a lovely example of a mansion, and one of extravagance which exemplifies the persona of a governor in the State of Louisiana. I have never been to another Governor's mansion in any other state, so I really have nothing to compare it to at all. Admission is free, well to the extent that I asked a young lady sitting on a bench who pointed me to the restroom and said that admission was free. Everything was very clean, and I would have loved to have had some explanation about some of the details.

This place was for work but the service they have is a very primitive, arrogant lady, very arrogant, rude because while they are talking to her, the phone is on, she does not pay attention to the other person because she thinks she is superior and in a place in a public place that is from the town and it belongs to everyone or for the people I work for, it's a place where we really are all one. I don't think you have to be as arrogant and primitive as one of the people I could see and who was able to really help, I wouldn't give my vote for some people who have because if those are the people who represent them what does that mean about that person how do I speak about those people people when they have power believe they are superior to what they do not have they believe they are better and in the eyes of God and in the eyes of God we are all equal

tour guide mentioned that it would not take too long if you wanted to tour this spot on the way back. She mentioned they had a small collection of some interesting items. Super clean grounds and building maintenance.

Interesting collection of some personal items from former Governors. The staff was helpful and it is close to other government buildings to see downtown.

Building and grounds were interesting, but many of the rooms seemed to be in disrepair. And the "docent' was very busy following up from a school group tour so we were on our own. We think there is potential for more truly historic information and views in the house but many of the tubs, toilets, etc were removed and attention to detail was lacking

Our docent was excellent. Very willing to answer questions or give more details. Highly recommend visiting here.

Surprised by the lack of displays. Five replica bedrooms and partial baths recreated to view. What's the point? Do more!

Beautiful building and very interesting story about it and how Baton Rouge became Louisiana's capital. It's also used for events and there was a wedding being staged for next day.
