“My husband brought his 2018 Mazda CX-3 (small SUV) to Kevin to fix the A/C. The SUV had 100k miles on it but my husband had kept up with all maintenance so was planning on driving it another 30-50k miles before trading it in for a new car. Kevin explained to him that the part was a $40 part but where the part is located in the SUV it would take him (8) hours in labor just to get to where the part needed to be in order to fix the A/C on his car. So he would be looking at an $1200 bill minimum and he said in my opinion it’s not worth it for the short Amount of time he planned on keeping the car to just end up trading it in a year or two from now.
How impressive is he! It seems (unfortunately) that one finds such an honest company/owner that takes more pride in honesty and doing great work and meanwhile building his business based on honesty like the owner of Covington Automotive. We have always gone to the dealership because of that very reason. We just moved back to Louisiana (I’m from here but we have lived in several states working-wife) and I just love that I’ve been gone for (25) years and Covington is still supporting companies like Covington Automotive not only for his incredible workmanship but his honesty. It was so heart warming to see the people of Covington/Northshore are still the great people that love giving their business to people like Kevin and Covington Automotive!
Needless to say, we will no longer be going to the dealership for our car maintenance now that we have met Kevin and know our cars couldn’t be in better hands and how honest he is. I can tell you (speaking as the wife that changes cars every (3/4) years) I have never met any dealership that we went to in all the (4) different states we have lived in more honest that Covington Automotive. “I have a 2011 Silverado which broke down in summer of 2020. Oil pump on the old engine went out and the engine had 302000 miles on it. So we decided to just replace the entire motor as a whole and bought an identical used 4.8 Liter V8 vortec with 75000 on it. Had my transmission rebuilt at acorn transmission repair and then for about a year the truck just sat in my shop because I couldn’t find anyone to help me install the motor and transmission. So once I had the money saved up, I started looking around for automotive shops and I found this one not knowing anything about it. So I called up and told them what I needed done and they gave me a quote and soon after that I had my truck towed up there with all my parts. Maybe about a week passed before they got the truck in there and got to work on it. And then about another week went by and it was ready. Haven’t had ANY problems at all so far. I had a check engine light come on but I just took it up and they diagnosed it quickly for me and I told them I would be back in the future to get that minor repair done. I would recommend them to anyone. And anytime I need anything major done to my truck, I will be going to this shop.
