The Purple Cow is a unique thrift store that offers a great shopping experience while supporting the Christian Outreach Center of Baton Rouge. Customers can donate gently used items like clothes, furniture, housewares, and accessories, with the proceeds helping struggling families in the community. The store is well-organized, clean, and has a pleasant atmosphere, making it feel more like a department store than a typical thrift shop. Shoppers often find a wide variety of items at great prices, including clothing and decorative pieces. However, there have been some concerns about the recent rearrangement of the children’s books section, which has made it difficult for customers to browse. Additionally, some reviews mention issues with staff attentiveness at the checkout, although many customers praise the friendly and helpful nature of the employees. Overall, The Purple Cow is highly regarded for its mission and selection, making it a worthwhile destination for both donations and thrift shopping.
I am sure there can be good deals to be found from time to time.

I loved the selection of children’s books here. But they rearranged the store and the children’s books are no longer put up on a shelf. They are thrown into clear bins and you have to dig through the bins to find them. They all get torn up. Heartbreaking. They have the shelf space. I wish they would set them back up.
