Nicely kept battlefield park for the 1864 Battle of Mansfield. Ranger was knowledgeable and friendly. We stopped with our RV and had a picnic and toured the historic site.Restrooms: Has a small restroom for visitors.Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed in all areas except in the museum.Picnic area: Several small picnic areas. A spot for parking RV or oversized vehicles.

Wonder little museum! New to the area and was pleasantly surprised by this place. A small area that is rich in history of the civil war. They have a short walking trail (lacking large markers due to weather wear and tear but they are working on it). There are numbered markers which you’ll follow with a cool informational card. The card tells you what happens at each marker. Very relaxing trail and well kept up. Friendly staff and very helpful! There is a fee for entrance (which helps fund the property). It should be about $4 (cash or card). They do offer military discounts as well. Wonderful little slice of history and a nice trail to engage in and decompress! If it’s rained recently, consider bringing shoes you can get dirty but you should be alright!

Disappointed to say the least! Museum was good, but grounds completely inadequate for such an important historical site- no outside displays on battlefield, such a short walking tour - good evidence the state of Louisiana cares little about its history

We attended the night time battlefield tour. It was a neat experience and we will return next year also. Hope to get to the museum soon during the day when it's open. Definitely recommend

Small but well done state historic Civil War battlefield. The battle here in Mansfield was considered a Confederate victory in that it caused Union forces to fall back from their march to Shreveport, then Louisiana‘s state capital, thus probably prolonging the war by several months. There is an entrance fee of $4 but seniors are free. Watch the 10 minute film and take time to look at the exhibits. The letters from soldiers to their loved ones are moving as many never made it back home. The loss of life was horrific. There is a one mile, easy walk along the battlefield with markers corresponding to a map. The rangers were extremely welcoming and helpful in answering questions. Not a well known battle but still significant. We spent about 1 1/2 hrs here.

The grounds are nicely manicured. There are two cannons, two memorial stones, and a building. I did not go in the building as there was a sign on the door that stated masks were required for entry.

Great guide and quite hallow ground...its hard to fathom over 4000 Americans died on this battlefield!?

A very nice place to stop and learn about the battle of Mansfield. Really enjoy the 1 mile walking trail with the different stop that told about the battle. Just wish they would invest some time in taking care of the monuments were you can read them.
