Beckham's Bookshop, established in 1967, is a historic, family-owned treasure trove and book lover’s dream located in downtown New Orleans. Housed in a building much bigger than it looks from the outside, it features multiple floors with a very wide and impressive selection. This includes a large collection of second-hand and new books, particularly about the history of NOLA, as well as vintage prints, maps, first editions, and collector’s pieces. The shelves are well-labeled and there is even a map to guide you. The shop has a lovely atmosphere, complete with sweet bookstore cats that live inside. Visitors should note the shop no longer has a large selection of vinyl records. While some find the books, which are often older yet in good condition, to be a bit pricey, others praise the super reasonable prices. It is a lovely place to spend time and uncover literary gems, with the charm of a rolling ladder and the possibility of finding your next read.
