“This place is captivating with the staff, its energy, the welcoming feeling is exuberant. The refreshing appeal the space has is always inviting. The people put so much love and care into their barista skills. I have experience nothing but consistency with my drink. I don’t even have to ask for what I prefer to drink. They know my need as soon as I walk in the door!Kudos, with triple high five for Baldwin and Co!I mean…don’t take my word for it.Go experience it for yourself!”

“This is an incredible gem of a bookstore tucked away. They have a really good selection of books for such a small establishment, and the woman who works there is so helpful and funny and kind.”

“We came upon Crescent City Books as part of our various recent walks through the French Quarter. Gayle and I wandered in this compact place and spent a fair amount of time looking through the stacks of used and antique books. The rare offerings are behind lock and key. They also have a nice selection of art prints, maps, and other framed treasures. I came out modestly with a few local picture cards, and a mental note to come back and spend more time here. The guy (owner?) working the front desk for friendly and informative. My only quibble is that because this bookstore is relatively small and well loved, I sometimes had to wait my turn to look within a particular section.”

“Blue Cypress is a woman-owned, locally-owned bookstore on Oak St near the levee. While they are most known for their used books selection they also have a great new selection. They often highlight local authors and host several different book clubs on site. Don't forget to meet Kitty when you go!”

“We were visiting from Connecticut and had to stop by and support. This is one of the best bookstores that we visited. Madams Customer Service was down to earth and phenomenal. This is a must visit.”

“TLDR: Lovely atmosphere and book selection. Books are used and a bit pricy. You know you walked into a good bookshop when there is a cat napping on the counter. I initially walked in just to peruse the selection and ended up finding a few books I wanted on the second floor. The shop has 3 floors, however, the third floor is currently closed. The first floor is well stocked and the second floor is about 50% stocked. A few gentleman were sitting near the entrance, I believe going through books recently brought in (either to donate or sell). We walked through the first floor before ascending to the second level. The shelves are labelled well and there is a map to guide you to your desired genre. Many of the books I looked at were older, yet still in good condition. Prices are written inside the front cover. This shop is pricy, even the outdated science books were expensive. The books I selected were $4-$5 each. Overall, lovely place to spent time out of the weather to find your next read!”

“One of my favorite corners of NOLA! Though New Orleans is rich in world-class book shops, Garden District Book Shop is in a class all its own thanks to such a terrific roster of programs and events, and their amazing autographed selection, which makes gift giving for book-loving friends & family a cinch. Great local book section and don't get me started on the adjacent Chicory House with its phenomenal selection of pastries, sandwiches, and coffees. Also, not to mention the unfailingly warm welcome of its team, who you get the sense are family welcoming you in. Including, of course, the great Miss Amy, who has matched many people to their new favorite books, and who is the keeper of the secrets! I've loved it here for years and, under the new(ish) ownership, the spirit is alive and well. Excited for this new chapter of its story and can't wait to see what's next. Love, neighbor fangirl.”

“I have been wanting to come and tour for quite some time now. Literally, too long. If you are local or even just visiting, come visit. Admission is very reasonable. This is an historic building, and is not handicapped accessible. It is absolutely beautiful inside. The tour is self guided, but there are signs detailing what sort of room you are looking at, and automated voice recordings of sounds of what life at that time would have sounded like. It was just amazing. Come in! Take a look around.”

“Stacks and stacks of unique and interesting used books, great for browsing. I can't get used to ebooks (although the internet archive is a treasure), I love to hold a well worn book to read...”

“This shop is a real gem. There are so many books to look at and a wide range of books to select from. There are really old books as well which was amazing to see. The prices are good. The man who owns the shop is really kind and knew instantly where to look for a specific book. Loved this shop.”

“Finally stopped by after driving by so many times and seeing the sign and I am glad I did. Evidently, they are closing their doors soon to focus on a book-mobile type situation, which would be way cool. Anyways, the person working was friendly and very helpful. I look forward to seeing their book-mobile and supporting them in the future.”

“I credit St Augustine's marching band and Jon Batiste for showcasing what an amazing school St Augustine is. An all boys Catholic high school in New Orlean's 7th ward that was founded in 1951 as a place for excellence. The school's Marching 100 Band is a city treasure and shows up in parades and in Batiste's song "We Are."”

“Saleslady was very welcoming and helpful. I found several books I had been looking for. I wish they had more Christmas gift items but was given a very understandable explanation. This is a great ace to shop for religious items.”

“As a parent of a student attending Tulane, it is a very well stocked store. Pricey, like all campus book stores, however there are deals to be made. It has a sundry of ‘stuff’ for just about everyone. It isn’t the easiest to get to or find if you are not from there or have guide.Parking is difficult like everywhere in in NOLA. Parking enforcers are everywhere.I usually park about two blocks away, around the Student UMC church.Try to go there off peak hours, I.e. not early AM or lunch time. Anytime after 12:00 should work.”

“My daughter is now a returning student at Dillard University. Her goal while looking for a university was to attend a HBCU and we both believe she made a great choice. After attending a college where the students were just another number. Granted the university need to continue to upgrade as for any business. When I arrive on campus to visit and inquire, the staff is always friendly that's my experience and the professor's care about our young adults. Keep teaching , caring and preparing our next generation!”

“For a community college, this is not only a big campus with equally impressive buildings, but the interiors have an old world feel to them that I just assumed you'd need to pay $50,000 a year in tuition to get. Ochsner is building an allied health school here at the moment.”

“Frenchmen Art & Books is a sweet little corner book store that had the pleasure of visiting last week. Gayle, David, and I were coming from the Spotted Cat after listening to some music, and I insisted on a "couple minutes" to check this place out. They stayed outside and noticed my big smile through the window, as my allotted time extended. Frenchmen Art & Books had a nice selection of local books (including Zines) and some nice artistic selections. The store itself is rather compact, so it was easy to circle the shelves a couple time as I was deciding what mix of literary goods I wanted. As I was checking out, the guy behind the counter questioned why I put something back and whether I wanted it after all. Why Not! Pricing was reasonable and if only I had more time!”
