Black Heritage Gallery in the French Quarter of New Orleans is a unique store that specializes in African American art, paintings, photos, and gifts. Located at the corner of Bourbon and Orleans, it is part of the Louisiana African American Heritage Trail and offers specific knick-knacks and artwork dedicated to people of color. The gallery is known for staying open late, making it convenient for visitors exploring Bourbon Street. Customers often purchase multiple items during their visits, including prints and souvenirs, and some have even used the gallery's art to decorate their homes. The staff, including enthusiastic and kind servers, receive high praise. Despite its popularity among visitors, there is limited online presence, and some visitors are curious about its history and ownership. The gallery seems to be a special place that highlights African American culture and art, making it a must-visit spot for those interested in supporting Black artists and heritage in New Orleans.
Staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. I appreciate the time they took helping us around and recommend for the original art and prints.
They ask you not to take pictures inside, so I encourage you to go see in person at your convenience. You're sure to find a gem or four like I did.
