Matassa's Market is a family-owned grocery store and a favorite deli in the quarter. The deli also offers catering with only 24 hours notice. Prices are comparable, if not better, to other local stores. The staff is always jovial and friendly, showing an old school customer appreciation style and even loving customers' dogs. The business is clean, well-run, and less chaotic than other nearby options. One of the biggest pluses is that it opens early, before 10am. Notable items include surprisingly amazing jelly donuts near the register and damn good babaganoosh made by a cook on site. It is a great market and a local spot that customers can't wait to come back to.
