“About an hour west of New Orleans in the middle of nowhere (Garyville) you’ll find Mike’s food mart. This is a testament to being able to find incredible food down here in places like gas stations that is as good as revered restaurants elsewhere in the world.

After asking the lady working what she would order if she was off the clock, she guided me to the crawfish etouffee. This came over white rice with green beans, potato salad, and a piece of crawfish bread.

The potato salad and green beans were quite good but no one is going out of their way for them. This crawfish bread was stupid good. Like a crawfish florentine on garlic bread. I’d have eaten a whole tray of that…wow. The etouffee was also excellent. There was plenty of crawfish and there were these meatball looking things that were made with crawfish also and I was honestly so impressed with the depth and levels of this stew style dish from a gas station.

Come to Louisiana and eat anywhere that isn’t a chain. Just do it. $15.99 for all this is totally worth it any day of the week.”
