“Wonderful stop on a rainy summer day while vacationing in the Penobscot Bay Area of Maine. Just a short drive north of Camden. The custom made furniture and the paintings on the walls are real works of art. Michael and Janna (the owners--him the furniture designer and she the artist of some of the paintings on display) were very warm and inviting. Plus, the three guys in the workshop were interesting and engaging in explaining what they were working on, describing the functions of various woodworking tools, and giving us a crash mini tutorial in furniture building. The wood selections (-I particularly loved the Tiger Maple pieces) and furniture designs are beautiful. If we didn't just downsize and move to the city, I'd surely consider buying some of their beautiful furniture.”

And, we are glad we did.The woodworking projects that the prisoners have made are very good, and the prices are reasonable. There were a couple of large pieces that I would have purchased in a heartbeat had I had a way to get them home.By all means, check this place out. All proceeds from the sales go back to the prison to purchase material and machines. The prisoners learn furniture making skills that they will be able to use when they get out. Everyone benefits.”
