FANTASTIC PHARMACIST
Been trying for over a month to find the right pharmacy to help me get a compounded medication covered through MaineCare.. MaineGeneral sent my script to a pharamacy in Massachusetts that doesnt accept MainceCare originally … Had to be transferred more than once to find out repeatedly that MaineCare doesnt cover the script as it was written… 😑
FINALLY the phenomenal pharmacist at the medicine shoppe gave me some much needed advice after I bothered her repeatedly about my prescription… told me about asking for ingredients to be changed to ones Mainecare would cover, purchasing less than the scripted amount in order to be able to afford to get any of it and also advised that refills would be available for up to a year.
So, instead of buying a $100+ tube of ointment I desperately need, I can pay less for a smaller tube of the same prescription and still get the treatment I desperately need.
Over the countless phone-calls I’ve had with MaineGeneral Surgery, Birds Hill Pharmacy in MA, Johnsons Pharmacy in MA, other pharmacies in Maine, etc, nobody has told me these very important details.

Nick is an especially helpful pharmacy tech, and he can answer a lot of the logistical questions about pharmacies and prescriptions (how refills work, when they need to fax my PCP, etc). I haven't had questions for the pharmacist on my prescriptions, but I sometimes hear the pharmacist (discreetly) providing some guidance and advice to the pharm techs as they work on prescriptions or medication questions. This place is probably the best pharmacy I've ever used! And it's great to have someone in person to talk to about my prescriptions.”

“I was having trouble getting my prescription refilled. I waited a long time for the medication to come in. I got the pharmacist on the phone. He said, he would take care of my issue right away. Today my prescription was in. He was awesome!! The problem was, the auto system was not working right and my medication had not been ordered. This pharmacist straightened that out, right away for me.”

These folks fill prescriptions for hundreds of people each week, and can only work during business hours. Some prescriptions may not be filled immediately.There is a lot that goes into pharmacy work, that we could never really understand. If your prescription is urgent, call ahead and ask about them. I went tonight to pick up a new medication which my insurance wouldn't cover but I did have a manufacturer coupon that I hoped would work, because it is absolutely out of our budget if we had to pay the cash price. I actually had multiple bad dreams last night that the coupon wouldn't work, so when I got there and they tried using the coupon and it didn't work, I was very worried and sad. The pharmacist was so nice and compassionate about the whole thing and said she would call them in the morning and hopefully get it worked out. I went out to my car and had not even driven out of the parking lot when I got a call back from the pharmacist saying she had gotten it to work!! I hurried back in and I don't know how but she managed to get the coupon to cooperate and I was able to get my medicine! I know they were busy and having worked in retail pharmacy for years I know how difficult it can be to find the time to troubleshoot when there is a problem like this. I am so thankful that she took the extra time to try one more thing,it meant the world to me! thank you so much!!!”

“The store manager helped me today at this East Avenue Lewiston location after the store manager of the Sabattus Street, Lewiston location would not help me. I purchased products that should have received extra bucks and the first store manager refused to help me and let me walk out of the store questioning why I even went there. I went to the store on East Avenue and the store manager there was more than willing to help me. He was fantastic!”
“This is my local pharmacy and the only one I occasionally use. Lately, when filling my prescriptions, they have not been ready. I find a pickup time important. Waiting for my scripts 90 minutes after the time specified for pickup, not good customer service.”

“I just wanted to take the time to share our experience as Cassandra needs to know she is amazing and Walgreens, You have a true gem & Pharmacy manager.. I Came through the Walgreens drive-through pharmacy at 5:30 at night after an urgent care visit for My four-year-old daughter, who had 102 fever and a double ear infection. Long story short, the urgent care was clearly struggling to do their part to get the prescription over and of course, all this is happening around the time of closing.
I remember looking at the clock at 5:56 thinking this is not gonna happen and my daughter’s not gonna get the anabiotic, She so desperately needs at this time, if you’ve ever had a sick child you’ll understand a mother’s despair.
Cassandra not only was working by herself, she got the prescription finally from them at closing after their phone call and stayed late to ensure that my daughter got the medication that she needed.
To some this might not be a big deal but for me, it’s principal. I felt seen heard and cared about. She could’ve easily said no come back tomorrow. Sorry we’re closed. But she did not. So I would recommend this place and again, Cassandra you are wonderful. Thank you, I know thank you aren’t heard enough. ?”
