Liquor Stores
“Went in for one thing and came out with two cheeses, crackers, and prosciutto. The staff is SO nice and helpful! We were able to sample the cheese before purchasing. Looking forward to snacking tonight!!!”
“Bought a nice Vermentino from the shop today. Selection is really impressive and the shop itself is beautiful. Owner was helpful and it was fun hearing how the shop came to be. Will definitely be stopping in again!”
“Boutique liquor store with most of what you’d be looking for ABV beverages. Super friendly and helpful staff. I just wish they’d bring back their once outstanding hard kombucha selection. Alas. Still I highly recommend.”
“Fantastic place for quality Italian (and more) food needs, vast selection of specialty items, wine, olive oils, and don't forget the original slab style pizza.”
“Friendly service and great selection. Jacques is a great professional who is very attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend stopping by and saying hi. Will be coming back every time we’re in Portland.”
“I love going here! The employees are so respectful and personable, they also have a redemption center, not anything like Clynk where you get ripped off because they don't care about the customers just the money!”
“Free parking and the best local craft beers to-go you can find...... check their inventory on Untappd because they may have bottles or cans from hard to find breweries (e.g. Russian River Pliny, etc.)”
“in my opinion this is the best wine shop in Cumberland County. They have a fantastic selection of wines at all price points. Their wines are all natural or organic and sourced from generally smaller farms using sustainable growing techniques. Peter and his wife Arenda, the owners, are always there to greet you and help with any questions you might have.”

A Hidden Gem Worth the Drive
Wow—pulled pork with bourbon BBQ sauce and Jersey-style fair fries? Just take all my money already.
This place is an absolute hidden gem. The only downside? It’s nearly a two-hour drive from home, and that’s just cruel.
I was in Cumberland for a business trip when someone recommended this spot. From the outside, it’s unassuming, but the food? Incredible. I ordered the pulled pork, and it was so good I seriously considered grabbing another before heading out.
On top of the amazing food, the staff were absolutely lovely. Their warmth and friendliness made the experience even better, and I’m so grateful for their hospitality. If you’re anywhere near this place, do yourself a favor and go. You won’t regret it.”
“Extremely helpful and friendly staff, especially the resident staff dog Ruby. Seriously they're lovely people, never had anything but a wonderful, professional, and prompt experience there. Great prices and a great selection. Also a good little boat beer fridge with constantly changing options for those of us of the island persuasion.”
“Staff was really friendly. We were passing through on a trip and needed some snacks. Our cashier was cool to my kid, I think he needed that after being in the car for hours. Clean and bright inside.”
“My favorite place to grab lunch/ coffee/ some good back goods and the go down to town landing for ocean view cafe living. Home made back goods are divine, lobster rolls are yummy. Enjoy!”
“Car Hop was amazing. They jumped through hoops to put together a champagne and chocolate basket for us then delivered it to the court house in Portland Maine for friends who were getting married. We are so appreciative that they went above and beyond to do this in a very short time frame.”
“Excellent Eggs Benedict - wonderful muffin choice, eggs perfectly cooked, wonderful sauce with slight zing as one would expect. Standard breakfast potatoes - good/hot, but nothing special. Tiny cup of strong over-priced coffee with refills”
“If you need it, they have it. If they don't, you probably don't need it anyway. Groceries, wine, beer, and snacks. There is always a friendly face at the counter.”
