“Not a hardware store anymore; Machias River General Store. More of a sundry store with coffee, spices, Lodge cast iron products, local hand made wooden cutting boards, popcorn, health foods, flavorings, clean soap and cleaning items, kitchen gadgets, wool skeins and other yarns, snacks, hand made items, greeting cards, olde time candy... An eclectic little shop that is always changing! Love to stop in and look around to see what I need! My recent finds: streak free shower squeegee, spices, variety popcorn for air popper, wooden honey dipper ...”

“Today we went to Hammond Lumber in Machias, Maine. We needed five 50lb bags of Rabbit Feed and 12 bags of Pine Shavings. We thought we would have to take 3-4 trips there and back to our home to get everything. We had a long day and ended up getting there less than 30 minutes before they closed. We were so stressed thinking we wouldn’t have time to get what we needed and have to come back the next day. When we went into the store there was only one bag of feed left on the shelf. The kind workers, just minutes before closing, got down a new pallet of feed and managed to stuff all 17 items into our car in one load. They are wonderful people! Five stars!!!!!!! Thank you! ❤️”
