Not happy. Clearly ordered a truck a week before I arrived and got a jeep. Was told sorry, I could cancel it and pay the cancellation fee and try another place. Not fun at 11 at night.

Jens at rental counter in Portland Maine was great. Efficient; swapped out my credit card info; gave us a vehicle large enough for our 4 people and overnight luggage. Great experience.

Portland Jetport staff was wonderful and had an excellent experience.Re: Avis in general…My flight was slated to land at 11:50pm in a city a 2 hour drive from my final destination. Long day behind and ahead of me.I must have called Avis 6 times in the weeks leading up to my flight in a desperate attempt to find out if I’ll get my car after landing or if I’ll sit in an airport til they reopen, and was repeatedly told “That location closes at midnight”. Not once was I able to speak to someone at the pickup location. Had I been able to talk to someone at Portland Jetport, I would have breathed easier knowing that someone waits until the final flight and I would be able to get on with my trip, no need to stress.Technically I should be thankful and feel relief that it all worked out, which I certainly did at that time. I was delirious. But also, they could just give customers a number to their pickup location. Business lines are super cheap and have been around forever now.A little bit picky, I suppose, but I paid a good amount for a particular truck and was given the ugliest Jeep I’ve ever seen. So, it’s a wrangler…I guess…but with a truck bed? Goodness I felt like I was driving around in 1940’s Germany or something. $400 for the gliest truck(?) I’ve ever seen in my life and I felt so stupid in it ? (apologies to owners of whatever that thing is called)

The staff were extremely professional, and they cared about my needs. I loved the Chrysler Pacifica we rented and it was perfect for furniture. I highly recommend Avis and Budget car rental.

Like most of Avis locations these days, they claim to not have enough vehicles and did not assign to preferred members till after you arrive. I was given a car that had 65k miles and within a day had to return the vehicle because the check engine light came on.

Car had been smoked in a lot and not cleaned well I rented the car for 16 days even after scrubbing as much as a could my hands would smell like cigarets every time a drove

I rented from Avis for the third time in less then a year and its easy fast and very friendly each time. I used my AARP discount code which made the price even more reasonable. Very happy with Avis and they are my first choice when I rent.

They did not put windshield washer fluid in the vehicle. This became a problem because there was a terrible snowstorm and while I was driving on the highway, I had no washer fluid so I could not clean the window. I drove very slowly to the nearest exit, looking out a tiny patch of clear window space, found a gas station, filled the vehicle with fluid. However, because there was no fluid the sprayers had frozen up. So I had to unthaw one to get it working… the other did not work until 2 days later once the weather warmed up and unthawed it. The rear windshield washer didn’t work until 3 days later. I had to bring the vehicle directly back to were I was staying that day and it ruined my plans for the day. Called AVIS and they said the best they could do was refund $20 bucks… I was hoping for at least 1-2 days worth considering the trouble it caused. The customer service didn’t seem all too concerned and it was not a great experience. I rarely write negative reviews, but this seemed a bit ridiculous.

We booked a suppliers choice rental for an excellent price. Our flight landed after 11pm. We went to the rental pick up and Avis was the only company without an agent waiting to help customers. We waited at the counter, asked the Budget people, who told us he was probably outside having a cigarette. Nearly 10 minutes, the Avis agent comes out. He did work quickly which was appreciated. I confirmed our price several times as I had never done suppliers choice and wanted to ake sure it was correct. He said that was our base prices and added services would change it. We said we didn’t want added services. He worked on the contract and gave it to me husband who asked him to confirm no added services. He said no and we signed. Car was great and we went on our way. Our flight out in the morning was early and the rental desk was not open yet. We dropped the key and the jacket and went to the airport. When we got to our lay over, I got the receipt for $200 more than the price we had confirmed several times with the agent. Looking at the receipt we saw that several additional services were added that we did not want and the agent confirmed he did not add. When we got home, I called customer service who told me what without a video or other documentation of the agent confirming that he did not add services, he could not help us. Alissa at customer service did finally submit a request for refund but told me it could take up to 5 days and advised me to call back as “sometimes requests get lost”. The only experience has been awful and we have cancelled our Christmas reservation with them.
