About Pilates Center of Maine

The Pilates Center of Maine in Portland focuses on classical Pilates exercises developed by Joseph Pilates. The 6 principles of Pilates integrate with one another to work the “powerhouse”, or core - the abdominal muscles, lower back muscles, pelvic floor, glutes and hip flexors. Pilates exercises will strengthen the core for improved support; balance the body enabling proper alignment; and stretch the body allowing for flexibility of movement. Pilates is great for individuals ages 10 – 80+ who are looking to enhance athletic performance, improve general wellness, or augment rehabilitation. The Pilates Center of Maine also offers Fascial Stretch Therapy, an excellent complementary therapy to Pilates workouts for increasing range of motion.
