WindHorse Arts is hands down our favorite shop in Vinalhaven. The jewelry is gorgeous and infinitely giftable. But truly the best part about WindHorse is the owner herself. Alison’s necklaces are the only ones I wear anymore…so beautiful and amazingly full of light and color. Alison has made custom pieces for my daughters bridesmaids and for a Nana necklace for me. She is so helpful and patient! Definitely 5 stars!

From a studio shop on Vinalhaven Island in Maine, WindHorse Arts designs and creates unique handmade fused-glass jewelry that delights customers around the world. Since the company’s launch in 2000, artisan-owner Alison Thibault has personally crafted each piece, working with sheets of colored glass, a glass cutter and a 1500 degree kiln. What emerge from the fire are rare pieces of captured light in the brilliant spectrum of colors illuminating her studio and her customers. To create pieces simultaneously elemental and personal, Alison draws inspiration from the landscape—sea and stone, forest and sky—of her island home, from the family of people who love her jewelry, and from the music and stories always playing as she work.
