The Inn by the River is an awesome choice for anyone looking to spend a comfortable stay in the The Forks area. We own a seasonal cottage not too far from the Forks and had to make a special trip up to meet a contractor. Since we "closed up" for the season we had to find a place to spend an overnight, including our yellow lab. We went to the Bring Fido website to find dog friendly accommodations and found Inn by the River. We checked into Room #2 was extremely clean and comfortable - it's one of their dog friendly rooms. The room lacks a closet and the sink is located in the main room rather than the bathroom - also no TV. The inn has a restaurant and bar which is extremely convenient since The Forks/W.Forks area doesn't offer many dining options. In the bar area, there is a nice chill area at the far end where you can kick back and watch TV. We were there on a Sunday so we got to watch a football game. The bartender/server was extremely personable and cordial. The burgers were great. If you do go there, try the side of mac & cheese - delicious. After dinner the bartender lit a fire in the fireplace for us in the main dining room. What a great way to end our day. In the morning we were pressed for time so we opted for the continental breakfast. There were a fair amount of choices and the coffee was great. Overall the Inn was spotless. It's obvious they take pride in keeping their place clean. Since it was Halloween season, they had the Inn decorated in that theme to the nines - pretty cool and scary... If you're looking for a place to stay while in The Forks area, look no further. You will be delightfully happy and comfortable there.

What a view and what a dinner meal. This is on a recent ATV trip and had this as a destination. You can easily find this on the ATV trail map in the area and they 100% welcome and accommodate ATV,SxS etc. The view on the porch and timing this just right, overlooking the Kennebec River was outstanding. The dinning room has that Inn feel, but very comfortable and you are not on top of other tables. The staff was super friendly, informative on the area, the view, the food, the specials. They had made their own blueberry and raspberry syrups for some of their specialty Cosmo drinks. We had the special with was a Salmon in a maple glaze, with garlic mashed potato's and perfectly done broccoli. Also had the steak tips on a great specialty salad. Everything was hot, came out together, our waiter was attentive and appreciative that we had visited and took in this view. To have this great of a place right of the main ATV trail in the Forks is just amazing.Nearby activities: Northern Wood's outdoor adventure site has rooms and cabins for snowmobiles and atvs, plus the Kennebec Brewery right theirFood & drinks: Great rotating local beers on tap and bottle, as well as specialty drinks.Noteworthy details: Right on the main ATV and Snowmobile trail in the Forks.

I was traveling alone in July. The staff treated me so well. I felt valued and welcomed the entire 3 days. Go, enjoy, definitely go rafting. And enjoy my favorite chair on the deck.Rooms: Clean, comfortable and quiet. Loved the jet tub. Who cares if there is no closet? Not me.Nearby activities: Go rafting, tubing and please go to Moxie Falls.Food & drinks: They were so accommodating. Food was good.

We stayed here as a base for doing whitewater rafting. The staff were all super-friendly and welcoming and the hotel was fine, but the rooms were pretty small and needed redecorating. The continental breakfast that was included in the room rate was rubbish - just a few muffins wrapped in clingfilm and a few bananas (if you were lucky). We ended up ordering and paying extra for a cooked breakfast so we’d eaten properly before whitewater rafting. A fresh lick of paint and a decent breakfast would have put this at a higher rating.
