Inn By the River is an incredible find high in the woods of Maine, far exceeding expectations. The facility is laid out to make guests feel at home. The whole staff is incredibly hospitable, friendly, welcoming, helpful, prompt, and fun to talk with. All needs are met with smiles and kind words. The in-house restaurant is a real treat. The food is great, flavorful, well-prepared, expertly presented, and far from typical pub fare. There is a lot of it, and it is far above high-end chain restaurants. The service is very friendly and knowledgeable. The beautiful outdoor seating area includes a covered porch and umbrellaed picnic tables on a hill overlooking an unspoiled view of the Kennebec River, where guests can later relax in Adirondack chairs. It is a very convenient and homey place to stay for fishing, tubing, whitewater rafting, hunting, and snowmobiling. Rooms are clean and restful with surprisingly comfortable beds. The staff is very accommodating, helpful, and fantastic at handling large parties. It is a very pleasant surprise for a stay or a meal.
Our way too brief stay at Inn By the River was fabulous. Staff were so friendly and helpful; food was excellent; every comfort was provided. The place is lovely and relaxing. The setting couldn't be more beautiful. I look forward to returning when we can spend more time there.
