“I love popping into Things once and a while. They always have new and beautiful pieces. I have bought a lot of jewelry here, I get compliments whenever I wear them!! Staff are so friendly and helpful.”
“Really cool antiques here. I'm not an expert but the prices also seemed pretty reasonable for the most part. I would recommend checking it out if you're into anything retro or antique.”
“I went to this place two times recently. I had a bunch of old costume jewellery and old gold to sell. The owner was fantastic (sorry I forget your name) and his daughter, who works there as well, had stunning nails LOL. I complimented them!!! I learned a lot from him and about testing for real gold vs fake gold.
I brought him in an old watch from my grandfather just to learn more information about it. He was aware it was not for sale but took the time to investigate it with me. I also showed him an 1891 American coin (we will leave the description at that), that was handed down to me, to look at but it was not for sale! Sir, after you shared the value with me and I spoke to my sister about it... I have since removed the coin from my wallet and placed it in a special item of my moms as she is who passed it on to me. Her grandfather gave it to her.
I never felt rushed or pressured while dealing with the owner even when I offered to share an item with him to look at but that it was not for sale.
The owner was happy to get what he got from me and I was happy to get rid of it all and make some extra cash to go towards another trip to see the orcas in the wild this summer!
Win Win for both :)
Thank you for making these transactions easy and educational!”
“I went in here with my 8 year old brother because he had some money he wanted to spend, he likes opening packs and knows the people he likes but neither of us know too much about the packs themselves, the man at the store was very quick to help us out and realized that it was the little guy who was spending his money and very very kindly helped us find the most valuable things we could get with the money we had, my brother had a great time and said it was the best day of his life all because of the generosity from who I assume is the owner, we will definitely be coming back and will be forever grateful for our experience at this store.”
“They did amazing work on my late grandmother's old dinning set! They also did beautiful work restoring a quarter-sawn oak side table that had been painted with bike enamel.”
“Spoke to the owner, Carol, for a really long time. She had so many experiences and things to share, it was the best. Loved talking to her, will definitely be back to see her again !”
“This place has fantastic vendors, I stop in monthly to see what’s new and chit chat with the wonderful people. I Finally Found a tv/vcr combo, priced very reasonably!!”
“I've been going here for a while now and decided to write a review.
First, the people.
Jamie and Jim are wonderful people. Very knowledgable about what they sell, and incredibly nice. Captain the Dog deserves an honourable mention here as well.
Second, the selection.
The selection here is amazing. From flightsuits to cooking items to parkas, they nearly have it all. I've found some cool stuff here, like woobies and M-65s. Like with all surplus, stuff can move fast. I saw a short small OG-107 M65 from 198X here, and the next time I visited, it was gone.
The prices are more than reasonable. I paid about 50 dollars for a gerber E tool in alright condition. It looked well loved, but it still locks up tight! While 50 dollars may seem expensive for a folding shovel, it is almost all metal (save for the thick plastic handle and the screw to lock the blade) and a tried and tested design. I trust it much more than the $20 folding shovels at Canadian Tire. I keep it in my car. I also got a deadstock dutch woobie in the original compression sack for 75 bucks. Not bad. (Way cheaper than the 2 current eBay listings, shipping included)
There's some cool stuff to be found here, you just gotta dig. But let's be real, digging is half the fun! I also appreciate the MRE selection. Good quick meals for camping or if you are too tired to cook.
Another thing, the overall layout is great. Everything is well organized, and nothing is where it shouldn't be.
Also, having change rooms is a nice addition.
Another thing that I like is the website. Everything is layed out great and it's very easy to navigate. In this digital world, having a good website means a lot, and this one is top notch.
Overall, this is an amazing surplus store, with an exellent assortment of old, new and repoduction, I highly recommend this store to any surplus fans!”
