Kiyota Co Inc is the only business on the East Coast that supplies Japanese-imported martial arts equipment. Located in Baltimore, the shop is run by Kiyota-san, a passionate martial artist with a background in judo. He is well-known and respected in the local martial arts community, offering a wide range of supplies including martial arts equipment, literature, and his own JK brand of dogi (uniforms), as well as authentic Japanese-made gear. Customers appreciate his helpfulness, friendliness, and sense of humor, often engaging in conversations and sharing stories during their visits. The store caters to various needs with options like budget-friendly economy models under $100 and authentic, more expensive Made in Japan products. Many visitors have been purchasing from the shop for years, finding quality equipment that lasts and always leaving with something of interest. Kiyota-san’s extensive knowledge and experience in martial arts make him a valuable resource, providing personalized advice on items such as Bokken and Jo Staff. Although the shop is small and somewhat crowded, customers enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to connect over martial arts. Overall, Kiyota Co Inc is highly recommended for martial artists seeking authentic gear, expert guidance, and a welcoming environment.

Mr. Kiyota is very knowledgeable and has practiced martial arts for decades. He has helped me over the years with supplies including a Bokken and Jo Staff. We always talk for 10-20 minutes afterwards.

My Master Don and his Senior student Ming brought us to there for practice sword purchase. The owner is very friendly and talkative and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the sword 2.2 saku is perfect in length but too heavy for me.
