Hours: Urban Reads Bookstore is a gem and a beautiful, powerful space. It is much more than a bookstore, serving as a healing space, a haven of cultural refuge, and the hub for Black authors. The atmosphere is inviting, comfortable, and inclusive, creating an immersive liberation through images and quotes. It is the home of State Vs Us Magazine. The store sells all genres of books from urban and local authors, including children's books, with a great selection of books by Black authors. A large amount of books are from prison authors, and they provide donated books to incarcerated individuals. The book selection offers a little something for everyone. They also have some body products like shea butters and soaps, as well as some juices and snacks. Everything is reasonably priced and quality. My Mama's Vegan Café is inside, and they have had a caterer selling delicious Caribbean food. People can come to chill, meet, and read. Free WiFi is also available. The owner is kind, beautiful, amazing, super down-to-earth, humble, and an asset to the community and youth. This establishment is highly recommended and worth a visit.
