“The Island Plaza Cleaners are local heroes! After I moved out of a moldy apartment, they were able to get the mold out of my dry clean clothes, including a handmade wool coat I got from my grandma. When I brought the clothes in, they were realistic and upfront with what they were and were not sure they could get the mold out of. They were also very friendly and understanding! In the end, they got the mold out of everything and saved the coat I got from my grandma?

“Traveling through D.C. and looking for a place to complete self-service laundry? This is the place! The cost is reasonable for wash and dry. The facility is cleanly and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have an ATM on site and coin exchange that accepts $1-$20. They also sell pods or anything else you need, again very reasonably priced. We purchased 2 pods for $1. The washing machines were clean and the dryers were efficient. Clearly they take care of their equipment and machines receive regular maintenance. I witnessed first hand staff acting professional, friendly, and accommodating to other patrons who entered. They offered smiles and cleaned as they went. They offered helpful advice and went above and beyond what I have witnessed in other laundry facilities.
I would recommend this facility to anyone looking to take a break from their travels to run a quick load of laundry. I will come back here again when my travels bring me to D.C.”

“Really fantastic customer service and good quality work. Needed a 24 hour turnaround on a suit adjustment and a repair on the seat of a pair of suit pants that thought no way could be saved. We'll they saved them, they delivered on time. And they waited for me to get there after minutes after close when I called. Dry cleaning is good quality as well. Can't recommend enough”
“I was googling shoe cleaning businesses near me and found Sole Wash so I called and the owner answered the phone and told me when she would be at the shop. I went the next day with my suede flats to be cleaned and although it took a little over a month to get them back due to a recent flood in the building, she did a great job. Plus first time customers get a nice discount! Parking is tight on Pennsylvania Ave SE so park around the corner or near Trader Joes and walk across the street (if you buy something at Trader Joes, they will validate your parking in their garage). The owner is super nice and very responsive to texts/calls from customers checking on the status of their shoes. I highly recommend this black owned business and wish the owner continued success.”

“Update 2024: I've been frequenting this shopping center for 20 years, and there has been more turnover since 2020 than previously. You can typically find what you need and have a guaranteed store to come back to. I'm hoping the new frozen yogurt place sticks. Nice Safeway, the butchers are great and pretty helpful. The fresh fruits and veggies are usually of good quality and plentiful. Sometimes, you can even buy herb plants. Vaccinations are available at the pharmacy with a private waiting area. They are usually quick and text about updated boosters and vaccines they have available. Dollar Tree used to be better but has definitely gone downhill. Petsmart is organized and offers good service. CVS and At&t store are good. The gas station has an auto shop that does good work at fair prices. Also has smaller Bath and Body works but great staff and selection. The new Peruvian chicken place is sooo good. The Wendy's offers a 50-piece nugget for like 15 bucks, but it's not on the menu. You have to ask. There are two shoe stores (sneakers) in the shopping center. I haven't been, but since the Footlocker in Beltway Plaza won't let you try on shoes, ...seems like I'll be trying them out soon. There's a pediatric urgent care and IHOP that does a decent burger in a pinch. The Chevys has been around for years and the food is always good and the staff are nice. They used to have a fun Cinco de Mayo party that had face painters and a DJ that I hope comes back soon. The drink specials were good and I've had more than a few great nights with friends there. The liquor store is small but has a surprising amount of options for its size. There is a music store but I haven't been inside. It's been there forever, though. There is one bank there currently with a credit union (Lafayette) coming soon. The beauty supply store is decent, but I've only shopped there a few times. Though the clippers they sold came in clutch during lockdown and are still chugging along. Solid purchase for 50/60 dollars. Overall, there's plenty of parking, and folks are pleasant. Outside of specialty items and clothing that isn't boutique or streetwear (Cici's and DTLR), you will probably be able to find what you need here.”
“I have bern using Cupid Cleaners for more than 6 years. Every time I drop off or pick up my clothes, I am always met with a smile, a hullo and quick to get my dry cleaned clothes from suits to shirts to ties. I have never had a problem or if a spot was not quite gone they are quick to re-do the tie. I love our quick discussions of how they are doing and visa versa. A few times I have walked in and waited my turn only to see the client being rude, loud and demanding. The staff were ALWAYS POLITE & would just go quiet as the person was shouting his displeasure. I say a shame on the clients - go somewhere else!!! 5 stars for the staff working there and for the great dry cleaning or laundering our clothes!!!”

“My family has been going here for over 20 years, even after we moved about fifteen minutes further away. The family that runs the cleaners is wonderful, very dedicated and helpful. I have brought them the results of my clumsiness, you know what I mean, and they have taken care of 98% of them. In the rare instance where they don't do something right, they bend over backwards to fix it. We also have had items altered and they do a great job at reasonable prices.”
