“I’ve shopped at Kohl’s in Easton several times over the years, and the staff has always been friendly, but my visit yesterday reminded me of something that’s becoming harder and harder to find: truly personal customer service.

As I was walking into the store, two women came in just ahead of me. One of them called out from quite a distance, asking if there was anyone on the sales floor who could help them find specific clothing and sizes. It caught everyone’s attention, including the cashiers, and for a moment I wasn’t sure how it was going to go.

An employee immediately responded, and then the manager stepped in to help. What followed was something I haven’t seen much of in retail lately. The grandmother had a long list of things she was trying to find for her grandson—pants, shirts, underwear, shoes, different sizes, different brands—and the manager patiently helped her work through each item one by one.

I happened to be shopping nearby and couldn’t help but listen as they moved from department to department. The grandmother was incredibly appreciative and at one point told the manager she deserved a raise because she was so helpful and a truly genuine person. The manager laughed and replied that she was actually the manager, but the ladies insisted she deserved a raise and complemented on how well she treated them.

What impressed me wasn’t just that she helped them find a few items. It was that she never seemed rushed, annoyed, or eager to hand them off to someone else. (I was even a little nervous witnessing this because of the rushed world we live in, would the manager stop the shopping assistance or would she help them until they stopped asking her for help?) She simply kept helping, even as the shopping list grew longer and moved from clothing to shoes and beyond.

In a world where so much retail feels self-service, it was refreshing to see someone provide the kind of hands-on assistance that used to be common in department stores. It reminded me that I’ve consistently had positive experiences with the team at Kohl’s Easton, and I rarely take the time to fill out surveys or leave reviews.

So, if anyone from Kohl’s corporate reads this, know that your Easton team is doing a great job. The manager and staff showed patience, kindness, and genuine customer care, and it didn’t go unnoticed.
By the way, I enjoyed the extra 50% off the clearance yesterday and found a nice propane grill (pizza oven and griddle 3in1) at a fantastic price.”
