The Ft. Detrick Commissary is a pretty nice, though small, store located conveniently close to the entrance. It is generally well-stocked with all the essentials and reliably offers good savings, making it a great place to shop when needing to pinch pennies. The staff is consistently noted as polite, helpful, friendly, and competent, often going out of their way to provide excellent customer service. The store is clean, organized, and better run than many others.
The meat section is particularly good, while the fresh produce can be hit or miss, sometimes being out of stock to maintain freshness. The selection of ethnic foods is limited. The store brand products are considered uniformly mediocre. Checkout is manageable with regular lanes and some self-checkouts. Overall, it is a reliably great experience and a pretty good stop for those with military privileges.
So impressed with the recent changes in our commissary. They were open today, Labor Day. What better day for active duty and retirees to come get our groceries then my day off. Thanks for the sacrifice
